hey sar, im going to be attending sophie this fall and i was just surprised to see that u could get credit for bio even if its not required. how does that work out? and the calc AB? and does the english AP have to be language and comp or can it be lit and comp?

Oh, I didn't realize ppl were still talking to me on this thread! lol
Please PM or email me if I'm ignoring you... I don't mean to!

Eclipsed, I live in southern (southeastern?) Brooklyn, so it's just a subway & bus ride (or walking if I feel like it) for me. I know some ppl live in SI and take the ferry too. I'm in the last stretch of my third year, but since we started on a block schedule, the courseload isn't too bad, so I'm still commuting.

It's very possible to study while commuting, but it's kinda hard to stay involved in extracurriculars and keep up your grades at the same time. But maybe I just take extracurriculars too seriously. lol

littleangel_823, I don't know why they bother to give us the AP bio credit if we don't need it, but maybe for some electives we do. ~shrugs~ A 5 in Calc AB will get you out of Calculus 1. The full calculus sequence at CCNY has 3 courses.

I think english AP must be language & comp, but I'm not sure. I remember when they told us this, they said there were 2 different AP eng, so if that's still the only other one there is, I guess you won't get credit for it.

can anyone list the BA/MD programs that don't require an MCAT?

if i applied to the program at northwestern and was rejected, would i still be able to apply for regular undergrad? how about for brown?

i think they will ask you
My question is - If I apply decision for the USC ba/md program and i get rejected, does that mean i have to go to usc for reg undergrad

^yeah, i was wondering about this, if you get rejected from a prog. but get into the school applying ED, do you have to go to the school?

I'm pretty sure you have to go to the school even if you do not get into the program. At least that was what Brown people said.

ok..thanks

does anyone know of the accelerated degree programs that don't require an mcat?

md4me - i think UMKC - thats just about the only one i kno...

Has anyone here heard of the combined program in St. Louis University? I've heard about it from some people but I can't find any info on it....could someone possibly give me some info about that? thanks

Oh i forgot...i had another question...what is the difference between a BA/MD program and a BS/MD program? What difference does that make in the future?

Thanks nkg2323. I second what nkg2323 said. what is the difference? it would greatly help.

nkg2323:

a BA stands for a bachelor of arts and a BS stands for a bachelor of science. There is not a big difference between them. At some schools, for science courses you have the option of getting either a BA or a BS. Most pre-meds get a BA because they have less requirements. In terms of making a difference in the future, if you are planning on going to med school it doesn't really make a difference. Someone would maybe want a BS if they are planning on getting a PhD, etc. I think most combined programs are not either or. You can pick. Sorry that was so long and confusing, I hope it helped.

and md4me:

I know that Northwestern's HPME and Brown's PLME both do not require an MCAT. I'm sure there are more as well.

nkg2323, is this the program you were thinking of? http://admissions.wustl.edu/admissions/ua.nsf/3rd%20Level%20Pages_USP_USP_medicine.htm?OpenPage&charset=iso-8859-1

which ones do you guys think are the easiest to get into?
do you think 6 year programs are harder to get into than 8 year ones?
i know those might have complicated answers but i really just want to get into one of these so i wont have to worry about mcats lol.

do you guys think a 1420/2140 SAT score is good enough?? i'm pretty worried cause my stats & extracurriculars really don't stand out.

nvm bout easiest/hardest to get into question, i just read the last page lol

does baylor really only accept FOUR applicants? O.O

nemo; how is your SAT score out of 2140?

haha sorry, i guess how cc ppl do it huh? i meant 1420 math+verbal, 2140 for the whole sat
