accelerated program

Hi, I'm a senior in high school and I want to become a doctor.

I looked at some accelerated medical programs and I'm thinking of applying to George Washington University and Case Western Reserve University.

CWRU has that pre-professional program for medicine and i know that GWU has the 7 or 8 year med program..

but I couldn't find a lot of information about them..

How competitive are they?
What are the requirements?

Thanks so much

Short answer. BS/MD programs are very competitive, and often not accelerated (I don’t remember Case’s being accelerated, but I could be mis-taken.). Major requirements that differs from regular admissions? Longstanding commitment and exposure to medicine.

There are pluses and minuses to all of them. In some, you still take the MCAT. Some, you are locked-in. Some require very high GPA’s in college. For the right kid, in the right circumstances, they can be just the ticket.

Case PPSP is extremely competitive and probably will be more so since some combined programs at publics are getting cancelled. D did not get into PPSP, she got into 3 combined programs at public schools, she is junior in one of them, she did not want accelared program, hers is 4+4.
