I was going to put this in my extra info. could i please have feedback?

One aspect of my application that I believe deserves special attention is my SAT II scores. Throughout my high school career, I was always told that SAT II scores hold no weight in the application process. It was merely used for placement after you?ve been accepted. Since I took an incredibly difficult course load, I dedicated all my time to studying for these classes and improving my SAT I scores. After I had brought my SAT I to a competitive level, I began to study for the SAT IIs. Unfortunately, I became incredibly ill a week before the test date and was on medication that entire week, including the actual test. Walking out of the test, I knew that I should have cancelled them because I was not even remotely near an acceptable test taking condition. Hopefully, these scores will not diminish the hard work I have put forth in high school and at the college level which are the true, long term reflections of my intellectual ability.

I think it's fair to include a note that you were sick when you took the SAT IIs. But the rest of it sounds like an excuse. Most kids take the SAT IIs later, after the SAT Is are out of the way, and once they know if schools require them. Your list of excuses, IMHO, only draws attention to poor performance. If the rest of your application is strong, and your SAT IIs are not up to par, include a brief statement saying you took them while ill and you do not believe they represent your best effort. Skip the rest. Too many excuses rings false. "Thou dost protest too much, me thinks."

Your excuse about not knowing they matter so much is especially harmful. Colleges do not want "grade grubbers" who only work when it's for a grade, who always ask "will this be on the test," who only put forth their best effort if there's a tangible goal. They want students who love learning and do their best always. Leave this part out.

First, you didn't research the application process and how influential SAT IIs were. Second, you could've retaken the SAT II tests again, that alone really invalidates your entire excuse. Hopefully you do have another opportunity to take the SAT II.

If not...the best you could do is possibly add a comment about it in your application.

ah thank you. maybe i should state that i'm applying as a transfer student. i actually couldn't have taken them again my senior year because it was the last test date before applications were due. do you guys think i should take them again now as a college sophomore or just add a brief note like binx said?
