So I was accepted to and absolutely love GW, but due to finances it's impossible for me to attend in the fall and I am crushed. I did not receive merit aid because I was not in the top 25% of the applicant pool (or so I was told) and my family was not eligible for a significant amount of need-based aid. If I go to a state school for a year or two, work hard to get a decent GPA and reapply what are the chances I would be accepted as a transfer? More importantly, does GW award any aid or scholarships to transfers? I think that at least my need eligibility would go up because my sister will start college next year--but a chance at merit aid would really motivate me. Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

I believe the merit aid for transfers only apply to certain majors. However, you would still save a lot of money at state school before transferring to gw.... you only need 45 credits in residence at Columbian College. They are equally generous with transfers and freshmen aid.

Have you tried contacting GW Financial Aid?
