Acceptance and Notification Questions?

I'm obviously nervous about getting in because my GPA is low..
3.3 GPA
770 Math/630 Verbal/550 Writing
1400/1600 or 1950/2400

Did anyone get in to uPark with a GPA that low?

Also, my app status just got changed from something about receiving my materials to this...

"Your application has been received and is being reviewed. Thank you for applying to Penn State."

does that give any indicator of how long it will be until I hear?

depends on when you applied but prolly mid to late january...im still waiting as well :-</p>

I got in with a 3.2 and an 1860 so there's still hope

a 3.2 W or UW??

"I got in with a 3.2 and an 1860 so there's still hope"

Was it University Park or a branch campus that you go into with a 3.2 and an 1860? Those scores seem low for a University Park acceptance.

From INTERESTEDIU's post on 12/11----"I got accepted today. I applied undecided and had an 1860 on my SAT and a 3.2 UW and a 3.8 W. I'm really shocked/happy I got in. " This explains his acceptance, esp if he is oos. Seems to me that PSU is really pulling in the oos people early for the $$$ tuition. My oos friend's son was accepted that week too with similar stats, although it is not his first choice.

A girl at my school was accepted into UP with a 3.1 UW and SAT in the 1800s. We're OOS, if that makes a difference.

PSU does not look at UW GPA, only the weighted.

collegebound91, what was her weighted gpa?

Not completely true. Some high schools do not weight their honors or AP courses, so PSU looks at the unweighted GPA when determining admission. This is a disadvantage for some students, since PSU makes no formal attempt to re-evaluate the GPA on a weighted basis. (We were told this by admissions when S applied three years ago.)

my app status said what NYGiants31191's said but then today it says:
"Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made."
does this mean that i should get a decision in a couple of days/weeks?

^ piano09--

could be months haha!

piano09 - most people have now gotten that new status message. I think it's just a standard thing, and doesn't seem to have anything to do with how close they are to making a decision.

I did get into University Park. I am OOS and I do have a 3.8 weighted.

Ok, a 3.8 makes more sense.

Interested Iu- Cograts on getting in to Up. We are still waiting. Son is getting very nervous. His Gpa w was a 90.5% which we think is a 3.5 but not sure. His SATs were 1860's. Lots of colege and honors classes. Good Ec and work. His major is Crime, law and justice in Liberal Arts school. What is your major? any other Crime Law and justice majors out there? Any info would be great. It would be the ultimate Christmas present for son to hear and get into Up. Once again best of luck to all who heard and were accepted.

I got into PSU Eberly College of Science last month. GPA = 4.0/5.4
SAT = 1350 (Math + CR), Total = 2110.
