i got in early without an interview, AND i live in new england

Nice!

But I thought this was going to be a little inspiring anecdote..haha. Those who were accepted should post their stories! Like how they found out, who they called, what people said, funny things that happened, ect. It would be so fun and motivating to read!

ok here it goes..
i go to school in MA where the acceptance rate into harvard is relatively very high. all the applicants were in a computer lab waiting for our emails. the first five people checked and all got in. i was the last but too nervous to check. it took me a half hr staring at my gmail acct before i finally opened it and read my acceptance note. all my friends congratulated me but i ran past them to call my mom. the end.

Oooo I have one!

I go to a urban school in Missouri; our last ivy-bound graduate was about 6 years ago. I promised three of my friends that they would be on the phone with me as I opened the e-mail, got home at 3 and alternated between pacing, checking my e-mail in desperate hopes that they send them early, and wrapping presents.

When it finally arrived I called up Friend1 and had her three-way Friend2. Friend2 took what seemed like FOREVER figuring out how to call Friend3!! She was sitting here calmly talking to her phone like "maybe if I press this..." and I'm freaking out like "OH MY GOD THE EMAIL IS IN FRONT OF ME IF YOU DON'T HURRY UP I'M GOING TO HURT YOU!!!" Friend2's sister then starts asking her who she's talking to and she explains that sh'es talking to me who is about to find out from Harvard (I really was getting ready to hurt her at this point).

We finally call Friend3...cue opening e-mail and mad screaming! I'm sure the whole ordeal only took a minute, but it seemed eternal to me =).

I am the first from my school and family to go to an Ivy league. I applied to Harvard EA because I wasn't allowed to apply to the EA program at another university since I was applying to a special program there. So I had to choose a University so that I wouldn't waste a potential EA decision. I chose Harvard, convinced I'd be deferred/rejected, but still hopeful about getting accepted into the other University's program. When I got the acceptance from Harvard, that completely changed everything. Since 10th grade, I knew that my aim was to get accepted into that other University. It didn't even occur to me that I had a chance with Harvard or any other Ivy. My dad, brothers and sisters are so ecstatic about this, though my mom is having trouble letting me leave the house (but she's finally accepting it). The other University I was applying was too close to dorm, so a quick change from staying at home to moving 1000 miles away shocked us all.

I'll never forget Friday, December 15.

I'm from Canada, and I'm the first kid from my school to apply to an Ivy League.

On Thursday night, we had a massive storm with hurricane force winds, so school was cancelled for Friday! I spent the day watching 'There's Something About Mary', and playing Risk on the carpet in front of the Christmas tree.....

At 2:00 (my time), when the email came, I couldn't believe it and I still can't!

Both my twin brother and I applied to Harvard early, but we didn't really know what to expect because everyone from my school who has ever applied there has been rejected (not kidding). We didn't tell too many people, but somehow it spread across the school like wildfire and by friday even teachers were harassing us about it in excitement. This led to an unbelievable amount of stress for me.

At 5 o'clock on friday we both checked our e-mail, but nothing was there yet. But my brother, on a whim, went to the admitted students section on the Harvard website, and it let him in. So he checked his e-mail account again and sure enough, there was the acceptance message. At this point he yelled across the house that he was in, prompting me to check my account again. However, my mother started freaking out, worrying that my brother would be accepted and not me. Fortunately, I was in luck and we both were accepted. Thank god.

A truly memorable night.
