P.S., for getting into Emory, are there any disadvantages of applying to the Oxford College as opposed to Emory...?

That made no sense, but the admission rate for regular decision is 42%, if that's what you're asking.

yea.. i mean its ranked 20! Academically speaking is it easier to get into than Georgetown... I say academically because take Pepperdine university with a 24% acceptance rate but low admissions statistics and standards...

other tips guys..?

Acceptance rates are not the same thing as rankings. Acceptance rates are a function of popularity. Popularity depends on a number of things -- perceived and actual quality of education, prestige, value ($$), marketing, location, how much "fun" a school is supposed to be, etc. Pepperdine is a very popular school in a beautiful oceanside location. The median SAT score of admitted students is 1090-1300. Emory's median is 1300-1460. Neither Pepperdine's higher selectivity rating nor Emory's higher SAT scores tell you much about either school. Just as selective colleges don't go by the numbers in choosing a freshman class, students should not go by the numbers in choosing a college.

Emory's acceptance percentage is getting lower every year though, as the prestege of the school increases.

i've asked this before but i never really got a clear response: is it easier to get into emory instate?

YEAH it is like 50 times easier

I would say its easier. I am from Georgia, and dont feel that my stats were all that impressive, and I got in.

yay thank god!#@%@&.. im in state if you couldn't tell. BTW Casiodorus, what were your stats?! thanks :)

I can tell by your "location" section.

As for my stats:

SAT 1: 710 math, 660 verbal
hardest course load my school offered (5 APs)
2 years - Astronomy Club (Vice President)
4 years - Chess Club

haha your stats were good... you were valedictorian!!!lol. do you know your high school GPA? and what'd you get on your ap exams?

hahah sorry for all the questions i just wanna know how difficult it is to get in and youre one of the few ppl i have met who got in instate
