Acceptance by Phone?

I thought, by your name, that you are an NC State guy? Are you a URM? You did get into State right? Anyway, I'm waiting. Good luck to all!!!

Accepted via my answering machine :) I'm Indian (ethnically, not geographically)...so I really do think they're wooing minorities to increase diversity. Who knows?

Wow, I'm soo nervous! Anyways, congrats to everyone who got accepted today and I hope to be seeing you guys next fall! Yea, 2012!!

wolf, you got in with a 1270SAT? damn, my grades were higher, had more ECs and all that and got waitlisted last year. Wake was my #1 school, but I ended up getting into UNC OOS. I wonder if location had anything to do with it. I went to a private school in South Carolina and they had already accepted 3 of us early.

Did anyone get accepted by phone who isn't a URM?

ahduke, grades are all relative. I have a schedule that is harder than probably the majority of the students on here. 1270 is in the lower end of the middle 50%. You may have had more ECs but trust me mine were very good ECs that I stuck with all 4 years. AND, I don't think any of you worked 30 hours per week in addition to an already time consuming schedule and ECs that take 15-20 hours per week. I could have not worked, not done ECs, and not had friends and left with a 4.0 GPA and my SAT could have been higher, trust me. I AM smarter than that, but there are only 24 hours per day and I chose how to allocate my time. This shows that Wake Forest knows how to review applicants holistically. Also my essays were beyond excellent. Thinking back about what I wrote, there is no way than an admissions committee could not like it.

And I did take the SAT sophmore year so I could do a lot better now but I just didn't have the time. Until I came to CC I was under the impression that 590 CR 680 M was not a bad score. But I guess I just pale in comparison to you robots.

Phone calls were for more than URMs. So if you didn't get called, you might still get in, but I wouldn't worry because the lady said they were calling a select few.

Oh yeah, and someone asked if I got into state? Yea I'm a state fan. Right now I have acceptance letters from UNC, NC State, and Wake Forest. I'm trying to make a decision.

Accepted with a 1320 and a 92 unweighted gpa... i guess essays and extra curicullars go a long way

jimbo1, very encouraging

mail or phone?

My My My, you are a groovy dude, aren't you? No wonder you got into so many good schools. Well, good luck on your decision making process. It's nice to have choices isn't it and be able to actually share them with people and not robots. Us robots will try to get by with our choices, I guess.

I was kind of wondering about the phone thing as well. They offered to tell me my decision over the phone when the ED's came out in October, but I waited (only to get deferred :( ) Has anyone (not URM) phoned their decision so far, or does anyone know if you can do this for regular decision?

BTW, congrats to those accepted, happy mailwatching and good luck to those still waiting!

by the way, bball and anyone else who wanted to know,

I'm whiter than Michael Cera.

Location may very well have had something to live in it. I live in rural NC and drive over an hour both ways to a large NC public school.

Who is Michael Cera and what does he have to do with anything? Now we all know why you got into so many schools. You are white and had to drive an hour each way to school? What is going on here? Wolfmeister we still love you and hope the best for you. Sincerely.

Driving an hour to school doesn't mean anything. It is just an outcome of the fact that I live in a rural area and indicative of low resources in rural areas. And I didn't get into schools because of this, I got into schools because I am a smart, qualified applicant and I achieved a lot in high school.

Michael Cera is the kid from superbad.

I understand. Cool!

Glad We're on the same page.

I wouldn't go that far but at least I understand who you are. Are you a singer? Or do you play an instrument?

Sorry wolfpack12 but I jacked your format.
