Acceptance Chances? (LSU)

Hey guys so I go to a private high school in Nebraska and I have a few questions. Ok in my freshman year I really just screwed up and mostly got C’s and D’s but in the 1st semester of my sophomore year I managed to catch up with my school work and pull B’s and C’s. I also got a 21 on my PLAN Test (Pre ACT’s) saying I should score around a 22-26 on my ACT if that helps. If I can keep my grades around A’s and B’s the rest of my high school career do I still have chances getting into LSU? LSU is my dream school and I’ve wanted to go there since I was really young. If it helps I know I can probably get a letter of recommendation from my student advisor. I know I really messed up my freshman year and I’m really paying for it now but I just need to know if it’d still affect whether I can get into LSU or not.

Hey guys Im from Texas and i have 3.0 and an SAT of around 1500, Im trying search around and see what kind of chances i may have of getting accepted to LSU. Also, I was not quite sure if it is harder to get in if you are an out of state applicant?

I didn’t get accepted but they’re saying that I can send an updated transcript and/or higher scores.

SAT
Math: 460
Reading: 380
Writing: 480

G.P.A. : 2.90909

What do you think that I need to work on so they will accept me this time around?

If I were you I would get in contact with the enrollment counselor for your state or parish and give them your stats and ask what they think you need to improve to get accepted. If you are starting college this fall then if all else fails go to the local community college and take classes that will directly transfer to LSU and study hard on them and get a good GPA. If you have more than 30 credits you can apply for admission as a transfer student. And you can always keep applying for freshman admission each semester until you get in. It’s hard to argue with a 3.5+ college GPA.

Heyy guys, I’m a high school junior in Minnesota. I was so stupid freshman & sophomore year and had a 1.7 both years. This year i’m taking 1 AP and 1 honors class and I plan on getting mostly A’s. Senior year i’m taking like all AP classes. I also plan on getting a 25 or so on the ACT. Do I have any chance of getting in to LSU? I play softball and volunteer a ot if that helps.

"There are three factors that will be initially considered for admission to LSU.

•Incoming freshman must have at least a 3.0 academic gpa calculated from academic core courses.
•Students must also have completed at least 19 units of new Fall 2012 college-preparatory courses.
•Applicants must have a minimum of SAT score (critical reading and math) of 1030 or at least a composite ACT score of 22."

“Students not meeting the above requirements for automatic admission are still encouraged to apply. We can take other factors into account to predict your potential for success at LSU. Some of these factors may include: choice of degree program, rank in class, credit in advanced placement or honors courses, rigor of the high school curriculum, grade trends, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. If you would like to appeal a decision, please contact our staff. We want to work with you to do everything possible to see you become part of the LSU family.”

I got the above their website. So your best bet is to work as hard as you can to have excellent grades from now on. That would show a upward grade trend and may allow you to get accepted. As for your chances I have no idea. Good Luck!

AshleyMarie22- I think you will most likely get it. You got off to a bad start in high school, but showing an upward trend would be a plus in their eyes. Hope you get in!

I got accepted and I think I can offer some help.
I have a 2.3 GPA until junior year and I managed to get it up to about a three ( Our school has a different grading policy and its hard to make conversions)
I did take a few AP classes that probably helped. And my SATs were 680 math, 660 reading, and 720 writing.

I think if you have good test scores and if you show a trend of increasing grades (a lot of people slack in high school :c) then you’ll be fine. Hope you get in!
