Acceptance chances Pomona College

Hey I’m a senior and I was wondering if you guys have any insight on my chances of acceptance. I have a 92/100 GPA and I will wrap up high school with 6 APs and I have a 34 ACT. I have an internship at Georgetown Hospital and will be printing a research paper next year, and I made nationals in track. I am not a recruited athlete but the coach and I have spoken and if I get in I am guaranteed a spot on the team.

Are you talking about Gtown since u mentioned the hospital ? In DC, not Kentucky ?

I edited the thread title to say Pomona College.

So, same question…is the coach offering you any support with admissions, something like ‘this kid would be an asset to the team, even though I’m not offering him a fully supported slot’? It’s appropriate to ask the coach that if you don’t know.

Without that, your chances are lower, but your stats seem good enough. If you are applying ED, have you run the net price calculator to make sure the school is affordable (if you are applying for financial aid)?

Your stats are ok but Pomona seeks diversity (only 20% of the recent class was Caucasian). I don’t know your ethnicity but with under an 8% admit rate - can you get in ? Sure. Will you ? Unlikely.

Your test will help. They have a good chunk who are T/O

The coach is what you need realistically.

When the admission rate is below 8% there is no point in figuring out why you don’t get in. 18% are Asian.

Apply. You can’t get in if you don’t. No one can say you are not qualified.

The odds are against. Pomona is not a target or safety for anyone. It’s the math of it, not you.
