Acceptance Chances?

So I have an ACT composite score of 26, an SAT critical reading and math score of 1100 and I am taking the ACT again this weekend to try for a 27. My weighted GPA is also a 4.15 and I am ranked 36 out of 330. My extra curriculars include Marching Band where I've held leadership positions for three years and I also participated in Indoor Drumline but that's pretty much all I have for extra curriculars. I'm a South Carolina resident and I'm also applying for early admissions. What do you think my chances of being accepted are?

Your ACT is slightly stronger than SAT and is solidly in the mid-50% range of last years freshmen and your GPA is slightly higher. As an in-state student you look to have a pretty good chance although it always depends on the makeup of this year’s applicants. Good luck on ACT - a higher score is always better.

In-state, you’ll be fine. It’s very likely you will get in, imo.

Not too long ago, USC was accepting all in-state students who had at least 3.0 GPA and a 1000 SAT score.

This helped a lot! Thank you both (:

If you are interested in playing the marching band, put that on your application. There is a audition for drum line in the spring. Also OOS students – playing in the marching band qualifies you for a waiver of the OOS tuition upcharge & you still get the band stipend! See the Carolina Band webpage for more info.
