Acceptance Decisions

@CAtransplant your portal will update from being reviewed to saying “We have finished reviewing your application and need more information in order to make a final decision. Please check the application checklist blah blah blah the sooner you send it in the quicker you will receive your decision”

@chuckiem ok thanks - first it has to progress from “currently processing” to “being reviewed” before that will happen!

@CAtransplant no problem- if it’s a big concern you could always send in first quarter grades

@CAtransplant mine was processing for nearly 2 months then it just changed out of nowhere. And now they have requested additional information.
The website says that your app can process for up to 8 weeks. I would say if it doesn’t change after 8 weeks to call up admissions to be sure everything has been received.

DS Applied Nov 15, accepted Jan 13, Mechanical Engineering OOS. <:-P

Applied in October, heard the week before thanksgiving. Got accepted to the Pre-Engineering OOS

@jmek15 do you mind sharing her stats? I heard from a college counselor that Boulder only admits 3.9-4.0 UW gpa kids direct to engineering majors.

@maicenstuart is pre-engineering different than being accepted to engineering? Is that what you hear of you got into your program, or into the school but not the program?

@TreeLights I didn’t realize it was unusual. Is pre engineering the norm? This is what the email said:

Congratulations! You have been admitted to the to the Coll Engineering & AppSci UGRD as a/n Mechanical Engineering major for the Fall 2017 term.

We are OOS so I’m not familiar with their typical approach. DS is 3.75 uw gpa 33 ACT.

@jmek15 I don’t know how unusual it actually is the college counselor I saw was really pessimistic, so maybe she was lying. Hearing that she had a 3.5 is pretty encouraging though.

@treelights, 2 minor clarifications - DS stands for dear son (or another word starting with d depending on the day) so not a she but a he and his uw gpa is 3.75 not 3.5. Minor uptick, I know, but he works hard so I’ve gotta give him credit.

I doubt the counselor would lie to you on purpose. At least, I hate to think that! The Boulder website has stats for engineering gpa of 3.87-4.0 but it doesn’t say if this is weighted or unweighted. If it’s uw then he’s a little under but if it’s weighted then he would be over bc of AP and honors classes.

Waiting is tough @annaleigh275, hang in there and keep checking the portal. Best wishes!

@jmek15 I meant 3.75, sorry: I know it’s a really good gpa, but when you hear 3.9 is the norm, seeing a 3.75 is a relief. And, yeah, sorry, I guess I saw the D and assumed daughter? Whatever the case is, a 3.75 unweighted is great to hear. Was it consistent, or upward trend? Does his school do grade inflation through hard letter grades? (No minus or plus added, so only 4, 3, 2, or 1 is used in the gpa)

Im not sure what she was doing, but she seemed to have some sort of ulterior motive. She gave me other totally wrong advice, after telling my mom she could help with my specific situation. Later someone who does admissions at an in state school offered to help, so most of it didn’t matter. Couldn’t find anything about Boulder though.Really look into college counselors before you hire them folks.

Thank you @jmek15 and congrats to your son! I am hoping the wait is worth it in the end. Sent my transcript the day after getting the message so hopefully they receive it soon. Luckily I didn’t slack off 1st semester so my W gpa went from 3.64 to a 3.7, my UW stayed at a 3.5, but at least it is consistent. The site says they look at W gpa so I would think that a 3.7 is sufficient enough for arts & sciences. I am also sending one more letter of rec just to make a point that I do want to go there.

I am hoping they asked for my grades since my gpa has been increasing since freshman year and they wanted to see if it continued, since it honestly is not bad. My act was also a 25 which is on the low end of the mid-range so that may also be a factor.

Anyways, I am trying to stay positive! If anyone else is in a similar situation let me know!

Boulder received all my information on like nov. 28th and I just got accepted over the weekend. I also got my major in the school or arts and sciences. I have a 3.6-3.8 gpa and a 27 act. However, haven’t gotten an email/letter, just found out on the portal. Also, no scholarship info yet, but I’m applying for a bunch on the portal.

@annaleigh275 I got into Leeds tonight!!! let me know when you hear

Daughter’s status on the portal FINALLY changed to “Your application is complete and being reviewed by the admissions committee.” For anyone trying to track how long it’s taking to get to that stage, she submitted her app by 11/18 but it wasn’t complete with school report, transcript and counselor letter until Dec. 1.

@CAtransplant I applied Nov 15th from OOS with all requirements in , portal status changed to complete around holidays and I got my acceptance into Leeds last night. Best of luck to your daughter, waiting is not easy.

I have a few other schools that I am waiting on but this is definitely in my top 3

@2021NH great thanks for the info. And congrats to you.

Just admitted to college of engineering!
3.5 unweighted GPA (3.95 gpa post ADHD DX),
1520 SAT: 770 Math, 750 English (one sitting)

Submitted my application on Nov. 15th

I can’t access the page it takes you to from the ‘accept offer’ button, the ‘apply’ tab is displaying an error, and I don’t have a confirm tab. I’m not too worried about that because I’ve had constant issues with the site. Has anyone else run into this?

My daughter was admitted as Psych major! Strange, didn’t expect admittance so soon since her portal just changed yesterday to being in review from processing.

Just accepted into College of Arts & Sciences! Applied January 10 with a 4.0 W GPA and a 31 ACT.
