That's the main reason I didn't like UIUC. Nothing to do except drink, since there's nothing but corn in a 2-hour radius. I was in-state though, so it was pretty cheap.</p>
<p>I don't know if UCB uses the point system. UCSD sure does, but i'm not sure about the other. Lots of rumors and hearsay, there are.</p>
<p>berkeley officially doesn't use a point system. i believe them.</p>
<p>I know a girl who got into MIT but didn't get into a Berkeley engineering program. (She did get into Berkeley, but not into the program she wanted.) Gender doesn't help, because they do not have to balance gender department by department or program by program. They just attempt to balance it campuswide. Being female does help at MIT, because they have so many fewer female students than males applying to MIT.</p>
