Acceptance for January 2008

I just got an acceptance for January, 2008. Does anyone know anything about mid year acceptances or how well the mid year start works?

Hi Summer!

I'm a midyear orientation leader here at Brandeis. If you have any specific questions, please PM me! I'd love to talk to you about it. Its really an awesome experience.

ok, so i didn't actually apply to brandeis (seeing as im going for engineering), but one of my best friends got in for january also. since she doesn't have a cc account i thought i would ask questions for her. first i was wondering what do people usually do in the first semester? and second, with people admitted for january 2008 be graduating in 2012 or 2011? how hard would it be to graduate in 2011? thanks a bunch!

i got in for midyear acceptance also.

benandjerrys.. you're questions are pretty much the same ones im wondering about.

A friend of my daughter's took classes at a local community college (after verifying with the university that they would accept them) so she is on track to graduate on time.

hey,
im a freshman at bdeis, and i'm not a midyear, but a few of my friends are, and theyre all having a great time so. one of them took classes at a local college so that she'd come in at the same pace as everyone else. another spent the semester studying in israel, which basically just means that shell need a few semesters of five courses in order to graduate with the rest of my class, and five classes isn't such a big deal, alot of ppl do it anyway just bc they want to. a third friend of mine combined taking a few classes and also working, amking some money.

I just looked at Brandeis posts from about a year ago and found lots of discussion about the mid year start. One post had links to two Brandeis student newspaper articles. Hope this helps.

i'm just wondering what is the reasoning behind the january acceptances? what does this bring to the university and/or the student? and is it aimed at weaker or stronger applicants?

They have extra room in January because of kids going abroad. My understanding is that it is aimed at slightly weaker candidates.
