% acceptance for journalism LEP?

Does anyone know the admission rate for the journalism LEP or for LEPs in general?

Journalism DOES NOT have a competitive review process to enter the major. This means that all you need to do is pass the gateway courses. The classes are tough, don’t get me wrong, but as long as you complete the requirements, you’re guaranteed to get in.

I was put in freshman connection. How hard of a road do you think I have ahead if I pursue the journalism major? My fear is that I’ll go to UMD freshman connection, apply for an internal transfer to Philip Merrill and not get in, and then be stuck, having turned down outright acceptances from other schools. I love UMD and I’m willing to do more for it to get into the journalism program than I would be for other schools, but I want to get an idea of my chances before I commit to anything. Also, could I be put into the LEP if I’m admitted out of the regular admission pool (which I was put into)?

I forgot to apply for journalism, but I applied for communications and got in…can I switch to journalism?

@mass345. That is what im also fear of

You don’t have to apply to journalism last I checked. You just have to get good grades in the gateway courses. As long as you meet the grade requirements then you’re able to change majors.
