Acceptance into MIT? Feedback please?

Alright guys I would appreciate any kind and critical remarks of my performance. I have thought of applying to MIT as a senior in the fall. Right now I will list my entire resume of high school.

Right now I have a 4.8-4.9 GPA (switching every semester) with AP gov(half semester), AP chinese, AP Microeconomics(half semester), AP calculus BC, Ap English 12, AP physics, Debate 5 Honors (the highest debate class only for members on the team/half semester),study hall (half semester), and AP computer science

Previous Ap classes: AP chemistry, AP english 11, AP US, AP Macro (half semester), AP Euro(half semester), and AP calculus AB

Previous honors courses: Geometry honors, algebra 2 honors, pre calc. honors, Bio honors, physics honors, english 9 honors, english 10 honors, world history honors, chinese 2, 3, and 4 honors, debate honors (2, 3, 4), honors programming

Previous electives (p. e., video production, advanced comp., humanities, and a bunch of other year long study halls)

Sat scores: Total/ 2230, Math/ 770, Critical Reading/740, Writing/720

Athletics: played jv football(doesn't really count), black belt in tkd, blue belt in bjj, been doing muay thai and mma training for about 3-4 years, competed in a couple of muay thai and jiu jitsu tournaments and won a couple of them, probably will start competing in amateur mma competitions to start off with when i turn 18 or 19

Extra curricular activities: part of extemporaneous speaking on the debate team and have been to many national level tournaments around the nation and scored in the final rounds in virtually most of them (glenbrooks, bronx, harvard, etc.)

Recommendations: I have recommendations from my calculus teacher, my physics teacher, my computer science teacher, my debate coach, and my muay thai and jiu jitsu coach.

In my spare time, I love to study, train, read the news, and create new electrical items(nothing major, just quickly playing around with different parts to try and create different machines). I used to play a lot of video games in the beginning of freshman year, but then I turned serious and really put a substantial amount of time into my academics, athletics, and extra curricular activities once I realized my horrible addiction. I am extremely passionate and enthusiastic about doing well in life both mentally and physically and would love to go to MIT. I hope to write an excellent essay for my application and appear outgoing in my interview. My motto: The amount of effort you give is the amount of results you will get.

That's basically my high school life and sums up my high school career. Please leave constructive comments below and any pointers, tips, or feedback on if this is enough to get into MIT. Thanks a lot.

I think that your stats seem pretty solid. Just make sure that your essay is fantastic and that you really establish your “gimmick”; martial arts would probably be the best. Other than that, cross your fingers :)

Try to get research experience to increase your chances. MIT loves people that are passionate and sure about what they want to study.

Thanks a lot guys for the feedback so far. By the way, Okokokok, when you refer to research experience, do you mind being a bit more specific please? Do you mean competitions or what were you mentioning?

I’m a bit interested myself about research, exactly what opportunities are there to do it?

For example, you could try doing research at a university or intern somewhere that is related to whatever you want to major in. If you wanted to major in biomedical engineering or some other science, then an NIH internship would be really helpful.
I guess you could ask your counselor or teachers about any opportunities. You could also google.

You’re stats are very solid! however, most tech schools, (if you are applying for a tech based major) like to see a lot of science Olympiad-ists, siemens winners, etc. I think you definitely have a chance though.

Your stats are very good. But remember MIT is always a dream or reach school to anyone. I think you will stand a good chance if your essays are well written and show your passion for science and for MIT. Good luck! :)

You do have a shot!
All the best!

Your chances are good, not great. Many of your ECs are filler. I see a lack of quality community service activities and no national type of awards. SATs are midrange for MIT. Good luck though.

Thanks a million for the feedback guys! @Scott G, you’re right I forgot to mention community service. My dad is an avid Nepalese cardiologist who had the fortune of meeting Mr. Apa Sherpa (the man who climbed Everest for a record total of 21 times) who happens to share my family’s heritage. We met at a local restaurant and ever since then I have been working alongside Mr. Sherpa in terms of supporting his foundation for poor Sherpa kids with consistent hours being donated. Nothing major has been done yet, but I plan to work on developing a website as well as using other methods of creativity to increase awareness of Mr. sherpa’s foundation. Hopefully it really boosts the success of his foundation and allows me to state proudly that I was a major contributor of it. Besides this, how important do you feel it would be to participate in the Siemens competition and hopefully place at least as a semi-finalist?

Stats are fine.

ECs, however, I see a lack of concentrated passion in the sciences/engineering which seems to be what MIT looks for in candidates.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I appreciate all the answers.
