Acceptance into SDSU

I am a high school senior applying to the fall 2014 year. I have a 3.45 GPA (weighted) on a 4.0 scale, I got a super score SAT of 1820, and an ACT composite score of 27. I was VP for 2 years of a 4H group (volunteer organization) and secretary for 1 year. I work as a camp counselor over the summer at a horse camp, and I give horseback riding lessons. I don't play a school sport, but i have been horseback riding seriously for 4 years, and competing. My biggest concern is that I live in New York. My dad lives in California (Huntington beach) about 1-2 hours from SDSU. What are my chances?

Not sure if you’ll be an i state aplicant or not. SDSU (and all the CSUs but SLO) uses a simple formula to asses your aplication. Jobs, sports, ECs don’t matter at all. They take your CSU GPA, multiply by 800 and add your Math and Reading SAT.
There are some nuances to the way they calculate your GPA (like no +/-) that can have a big impact so, use this format to calculate yours.

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

With a 3.45 GPA and 1200 M+R SAT, you’ve got a CSU Index of 3960. The threshold for in-state aplicants was around 4100 this year. Out of state aplicants, probably 100 higher so, it probably won’t get you into SDSU. Like i said above, use the tool to calculate your index to be sure. Long Beach and Chico are probably also worth a look.

CSUSB should be considered also.
