"Acceptance is contingent on..."

The following post shall be an example of Amalthea in the midst of “freakout mode,” which you will probably see quite often next year if you happen to dorm with her:

“Acceptance is contingent upon satisfactory completion of your senior year at a level in keeping with the strong record you presented at the time of your admission.”

Okay, call me crazy - but to all those who got in ED, does this one sentence drive you absolutely nuts? People at school have been telling me I’m “all set” and no longer have to worry about insane Latin tests or anything of the sort, but in my mind, all I’m saying to myself is, “Oh God, it’s not over 'til it’s over, is it?” I’ve heard some horror stories about ED applicants being rescinded after sending in mid-year reports, and my worst fear right now is becoming a part of their ranks.

My friends have told me I’m being ridiculous, but I can’t help but be afriad of being rescinded after the 80 I received in my government class. I know an 80 isn’t going to get me rescinded, but what if my teacher – who happens to be insane, and I’m not just saying that because of the grade she gave me, trust me – somehow manages to drop it to a 75 or lower by the end of the fall term? (The horror!)

Gah! Paranoia, paranoia! I should be enjoying my weekend, not stressing over this! Ahh! Ahh!

Definitely worry only if you get a "D" or "F". Worry a little if you get two or more "C's."
Other than that, do your best out of pride. The thing not to do is to slack off.

You're definitely freaking out for no reason. Rescinding admission's pretty rare. If you don't do very well, they might put you on academic probation and give you a talking-to once you get here, but I hear that's no big deal. You can relax a little.

Thanks to both of you (yet again). Finals week is approaching, and I suppose I'm just a little tense at the moment. (Plus I'm a little neurotic by nature.) Acceptance to Barnard was something I've been wanting for a long time, and now that I actually have it, the last thing I want to do is screw up the opportunity to go to my dream school. All those horror stories of ED applicants having their acceptances rescinded - they terrify me, even if they are few and far in-between!

But I'll try to relax a little. : )

it is driving me nuts too!!!
I got 3 A.P and yea Gov and Latin too!!
I got into NYU and it is freaking me out!!
b/c my A.P English class is really hard, and I will probably land with a 65.
will that get me rejected?
I am so scared.
