Acceptance Letter

Hi, I am currently in the IB program and I just got my letter of acceptance to University of Michigan - Ann Arbor College of Engineering.
The letter said in 1 sentence that any serious decline in academic performance may make them withdraw the admission decision.
I was wondering what they meant by this? I mean how low can my grades go before they feel that it is too low for me to be admitted? Im really worried about this.

first of all, congratulations on your admittance!!!!
U. Mich is a GREAT school, especially its engineering school.
Anyways, most (if not all) colleges have this policy: if your grades fall dramatically, it may be grounds for rescinding your admission. For example...if you were earning mostly A's and a few B's, but at the end of the year your senior transcript had mostly C's and a D or two, then you should be worried. However, since you were good enough of an applicant to be admitted, I have good faith that keeping decent grades for the next few months should not be a difficult task for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. The thing is taht I am doing the IBDP and I assume that they will be checking my grades based off my performance on the IB grades. Is this assumption correct?

work really hard and you have nothing to worry about

and congrats---you got into a great school

I just talked with my counselor and he said that my final transcript will include my mock exam grades.
In my school every class is given a grade out of 7 (for the IB).
The thing is that my grades last year total were 35, 33 and this year it was 32 at the mid year. I think that my next report card will only have 32 max (cause i kinda screwed up my mock exam). If my next report card show 30ish then could Michigan deny my admission? Is this considered a significant drop?

Relax. One of the posters already gave you an example of what a "significant" drop looks like. Try to have some fun balanced with your remaining high school studies!

make sure you remain over 4 out of 7 and you should be fine. work hard for your mock examens.
congrats though!
