crisscross: No. Think about it. It's only the end of February, and they still have many applications to look over (at least, that's what I'm assuming). Apparently, likely letters are given to a select few, so don't stress.

^ thanks for the kind words

did everyone who got likely letters get them after their interviews?

i got my likely 2 days before my interview. it was a bit... strange.

I haven't had an interview or been contacted for one

^Same here, no interview.

It's nice to get a likely letter, I'm enjoying it, but have there been any times in Columbia's recent history when a student got a likely letter, but come March 31st, was rejected? This bit of doubt crept into my head and dampened the excitement a bit, and I just wanted to get some background info and/or your opinions on it.

I have a question for you all:

I received an email from my regional admissions officer about my missing SATI score report (for some reason they had my SATII scores but not my SATIs). I found it to be sorta personal and it even came from her own email address (one not affiliated with Columbia). She encouraged me to ask her any questions I had about Columbia and she included an emoticon in the email (I luld at this).

I thought it was kind of odd because a similar situation occurred with Yale for the SCEA round (I was missing an SAT score report... damn you collegeboard!), but I received nothing like a personal email from my admissions officer about the missing document (even though she "loves" me enough to have admitted me). Rather, I had to contact the admissions office nonstop about the issue.

I was wondering if this could be interpreted as an email with "likely letter" connotations? What do you guys think? The only reason I have to justify that I MIGHT be eligible for a likely is that I'm black and my stats are literally leaps and bounds beyond those black students who have been admitted from my area within the past four years.

Tell me yo thoughts!

I think that making that assumption would be a mistake. Columbia probably handles missing stuff differently than Yale

^ This is my thinking.

dtl42, I hope not. There probably was a person, but they probably got like a C in a class ro something......

I got a physical letter today.

And I highly doubt just one C would make them rescind a likely candidate. It would have to be multiple Cs/

were you asked for financial aid info right before you got a likely letter?

I received an email about it but it was only a reminder to apply (and I already had) lol

People who got likely letters: did you get an email today about visiting? I'm trying to decide whether it was from like some mailing list, or for likely'ed students.

I got a likely letter and I got that e-mail today. I'm pretty sure it's only for likely'ed students.

I got the visit email as well, but it sounded pretty generic :P

Any non-likelies get it?

I'm a likely and i got that ssame e-mail

Does any international applicant got likely letter? please post. Thx

Did any of the likely-letter/email recipients ask for aid? And any who are international? Love to hear your stats! Thanks.

I'm technically an international (from Canada) and I got one. They don't discriminate that much, so if you're application is truly outstanding, you will receive a likely letter no matter from where you hail.
