Acceptance letters-non 8%

Has anyone receive a letter yet? Does anyone know when they are coming out?

Nothing here. 12.4%.

Sent from my Inspire 4G using CC App

nope not yet. I heard that we’ll be notified in mid-Feb. Are you guys instate or OOS?

None here yet. Non-ranking school, in state.

No word re: acceptance here, either. Non-ranking school, in state. My son did receive an email on Jan 20 to schedule an interview for McCombs’ BHP (Business Honors Program) to take place between Jan 20 and Jan 25. Kind of funny, because he hasn’t been accepted to the university yet.

in state, mid size school of 200 grads–ranked 11.8%

OOS son applied November 30 – nothing yet, but application has been complete for some time. The website indicates a response by late February.

9.5%…nothing yet

Nothing. OOS. I applied a while ago too. Is it more difficult to get in as an OOS applicant?

It’s really difficult to get in as an OOS applicant because of the top 9% rule. It’s even difficult for IS students who are outside of the top 9% Although I think it’s pretty difficult for OOS students to get into most of the highly ranked state schools, because they still serve in state students first. Texas is just particularly difficult because of the automatic admission rule.

My son’s OOS. Our regional representative just told us that OOS students will hear by the end of February.

My son is OOS and was accepted already along with another friend of his. I think it depends on your stats and what college you are applying to for OOS.

Dogsrcute, what school did your son apply to? My son’s interested in the Film Dept. of the Communications School.

Liberal Arts but his friend applied to film.

Interesting article about top 10% rule.

"Top 10 percent students don’t enroll in sufficient numbers in some very critical areas of our campus, including electrical engineering, geosciences, architecture and music. We’ve had to use all of our non-top 10 percent admits to fill those programs … we are simply out of space,” Powers, who initially asked for a 50 percent cap, said at the hearing. “There is virtually no chance of getting into The University of Texas if you’re not in the top 10 percent.”

Is EE that low on the demand list?
Is it low only for UT Austin or all universities in general?
I thought UT Austin was a top Engineering school.
Non-top 8% … may be you have better chance if you applied for one of the above.

Don’t despair guys, I was non top 10% and I didn’t hear until mid march!

Online acceptance only so far - no email or letter. In State, 15%, Fine Arts.

Online acceptance only so far in ChemE - no email or letter. Out of State

First saw online acceptance on 1/27 and got a letter today (1/28). In State, non top 10%, Fine Arts. Didn’t apply for merit scholarship.

Congrats everyone! See you guys in August!

Hook 'em!
