Acceptance Letters

970 is the final size of the class not what they accept. They will accept many more and based on people’s choices they will tyically end up with the number of 970 thereabout.

nitnat: where did you see that on Twitter? I follow Marist Twitter and I don’t see a Tweet from them since the application numbers that they posted?

I’ve been following Marist’s tweets as well and have not seen the message about sending things out next week.

me either but i’ll take it…so we should hear from marist monday?

The deadline is Jan 31st but I don’ think that means you will hear on the 31st necessarily. I believe it means that it will be in the mail by then. When I looked at posts from last year this was the case as well. Many people didn’t hear until the first few days in Feb as snail mail does take some time.

I must say I’m not a savvy twitterer…I must have been following something different on twitter then what everyone else is following.

LOL…I will admit too that I don’t understand Twitter at all but I do know that I have Marist on my list and when Admissions posts something I do see it there ;)

their twitter said that they would be bringing them to the post office monday so we probably won’t receive them until a couple days later or later on in the week depending on how fast the mail comes

“With about 300 Earl Action files (out of 6000 total) needing decision, decision letters for everyone else are being printed.”

“Please do NOT call and ask for your decision. We will not release any decisions on the phone!”

They have not said that are headed to the Post Office just yet. Hang Tight!!

So here is the skinny based on the Twitter Post. They had 6000 EA applications and they have 300 left to review. All others have a decision and the letter is being printed. They are going to be very busy all weekend to hit their final deadline.

“Its 4 AM. Do you know where your admission committee member is? Hint: Reading Early Action admission files.”

Sure hope it wasn’t my D’s they were reading at 4am…who can possibly focus after reading all those apps at that hour?!?

latest from twitter
Staff are in printing Early Action letters. Denies and defers are all printed and being stuffed in envelopes. Accepts are next!

yey! so Monday they’ll be mailed out prob?

My guess is yes, Monday is the day but they will post it on Twitter when letters have been sent so keep a lookout on Twitter.

Below data was pulled of College Data website for for class of 2009. Note that they received over 10000 apps. So the 2010 record was likely not much more than that.
A few impt points.
1- Overall admission was 36%.
2- Yield (% of admitted that accepted) was 37%. (That is pretty high number for yield)

I am posting this info to (hopefully) point out that these numbers are high and based on that makes Marist about into -highly selective category. However, that is all relative to the caliber of applicants. Based of what I saw on the college data website (and those that used). A 1200 sat, 3.65 gpa UW, were accepted about 75%. However, like most schools Marist denies highly qualified applicants as well. I know someone denied last year that had 3.78 gpa unweighted, 1290 sat, and varsity athlete, 4 AP’s, many EC’s and community service, that was denied. Could not figure out why but just goes to show you there are NO guarantees.

Marist: 6,000 Early Action decisions are on their way to the USPS. Huge thank you to our staff. More tonight about how to interpret YOUR decision.

this was just tweeted from Marist

i live only a half hour from marist so that means ill def know tomorrow thank you

They might not show up tomorrow. When bulk mail arrives at the post office it doesn’t always go out the same day. Just don’t want you to be disappointed when it doesn’t arrive tomorrow. It may still take a few days to arrive regardless of how close you are. Hopefully this isn’t the case but be prepared that it might not show up tomorrow.

yeah the forecast also calls for a lot of snow so we’ll see what happens
