Acceptance Letters!!

My friend said, on the harvard application you can check a box that says to email the acceptance decision......
Is there one for JHU?

For some reason, this stressed the hell out of me.. decisions coming by email

You mean clicking for the answer as opposed to waiting for the FAT ENVELOPE?? Is that what you are referring to?

yes

almost liek getting SAT scores but by email..

do JHU adcoms send decisions by email also?

When will I be notified of my admissions decision?

Decisions will be mailed out on Wednesday, December 15. Admissions decisions may be released over the phone after 2 p.m. EST December 16 only to the applicant, the parents or guardian of an applicant, or the applicant's high school guidance counselor. Decisions may be released only if the identity of the caller can be reasonably assured.

Last year, JHU emailed all their decisions (or at least acceptances.. I don't about rejections or waitlists). The website had no way to log in and check app status. The email that I got did not include scholarship information or anything else - It just indicated that I was accepted to the university and to the BME program. It was kind of wierd getting the acceptance by email since I was not at all expecting it when I checked my email.

So they e-mail you the decision on December 15th (now renamed the day of reckoning...haha)?

what i wondered about was..
what is the title of the email?

it's so damn scary thinking about this

it's like checking your SAT score...
my heart skips a beat when the page loads (i'm probably gonna have a heart attack for this one)
sadly, sometimes i am very sad after checking a score
grr. scary

I know how you feel Jose...

I bet you the title of the e-mail is something dramatic like "Your Fate Has Been Sealed" or "Open This Message to See the Course of the Rest of Your Life"

hahaha..jk...

Last year, CCers said that the subject line said "Congratulations" in it for those accepted. I want to know what the subject line says for those rejected/deferred. :o

Loser.........open this first

"Sorry".............. maybe...............i hope i don't get that DANGIT.. im so stressed about the decision period now.

Yea I hear 'ya........Ed sounds great, getting the answer early. Then you enter the waiting period......more stressful than getting it all done early. Plus you have to prep everything for the "Loser" letter......I remember and it was very hard. It gets better in a week or two but the last few days are awful.

i was deferred then accepted. i think it works this way...

accepted: Congratulations! on subject line
deferred/rejected: Your Johns Hopkins Decision...or something like that.

I hope we see lots of congrats for those who truly want to go to Hopkins!

The day that decision letters are mailed by the Admissions office an e-mail is also sent to those students who submitted a correct and operational e-mail account with their application. Typically, ED students are notified on December 15th and RD applicants on March 31st.

The subject line changes from cycle to cycle, and also some times only admits are e-mailed. Expectations are that this year once again all decisions will be sent via e-mail the day letters are sent via postal mail.

Hopkins does not have an online system where students can checking their decisions -- work in progress.

Spikedsoymilk....what did you do to get in after you were deferred?

I mean....based on what I heard, the chances of being accepted after being deferred ED are pretty low...unless you somehow prove to them that you improved a lot...or that they don't know something good about you...

(I'm just getting prepared for the real possibility of beign deferred...)

Does JHU blatantly reject a lot of people from the ED pool?

yeah, i essentially "improved" ... meaning that for the first 3 years of high school, i went to a really easy crap school. for senior year, i had transferred to a super tough school that was number 1 in its district. there, I got straight As and showed I could actually thrive in an academically challenging environment.

anyway, you will end up where you belong in the long run of this crazy college business, and you'll be happy...just so long as you pick the right mix of safeties/matches/reaches. :)
