Acceptance letters!

I just thought I would share what my best friend who is a freshman MT at Roosevelt told me!

Acceptance letters have been sent out!! They sent out 100 letters either today or this past week.

So…keep your eyes peeled! Good luck!

do they send 100 acceptances? I guess that wouldn't be a crazy number considering it's both MT and acting...

So do they do the rejections later, or maybe they already did those, haha, now I'm being silly...I hate waiting!

eek! im so nervous....i hope i get in....

I was waitlisted......pretty much no chance of getting in....oh well...I can still wait I suppose.

aww sorry kelsee! i didnt get my letter today, now i have to wait till probably monday! arg... question...when you're waitlisted do they tell you like what number you are on the waitlist? and how many people who are waitlisted actually get to go to the school and when would you find out by? anyone know??

Anabanana, while I can't answer for Roosevelt, most colleges would not give you an ordered number you are on their waitlist because most waitlists are NOT ordered. Rather, if not all slots are filled in the class, they will look at the waitlist and decide who on the waitlist fills a certain need in the class as they are building a class that is balanced by various criteria. Also, a school can't say how many on the waitlist will be offered a slot because they don't truly know and can only give you the past history of their waitlist activity over the last several years because it varies. For example, say a school has 30 slots to fill. Say they make offers to 40 kids to fill those 30 slots. One year, 30 kids choose to enroll. No openings! Another year, 26 choose to enroll and thus they can take four off the waitlist. Schools offer a certain number of acceptances based on the percentages they have yielded in the past. They estimate how many offers they need to make to yield a certain number of students for the slots they have. But in any given year, different things may happen. Maybe all who get the offer really want to come (it can happen but is more unusual as kids usually have several offers) and in another year, more decline the offer so they have to use the waitlist more that year. They have estimated this in advance and created a waitlist accordingly. Some schools are willing to tell you the history, such as, "last year we took 5 off the waitlist, the year before we took none, and the year before that we took 8." Others may not be as forthcoming. The ONE thing they can tell you is when they start going to the waitlist, a general time line. For instance, for many schools, this may be after May 1 when students must decide whether or not to accept the offers of admissions. Sometimes, someone backs out later in the summer (called summer melt) and an opening comes up. Anybody who is waitlisted needs to put their deposit in at another school and not count on the waitlist coming through. Also, move on emotionally and toward the school you do put a deposit on. If the waitlist comes through, it is a nice surprise, but move on mentally.

thanks for the info soozie!

hello again!

No, they don't give you a number. The latest I will know anything by according to the letter (last year they were like a week late) is by May 14th. But the odds aren't really good as they typically take no more than two.

okay thanks kelsee, good to know!

Kelsee- I'm soo sorry, I read an earlier post about how you chose to pass up some amazing schools for Roosevelt, so you are obviously talented and you will figure something out!!!

I got (well my parents got in and called me) my acceptance letter today. Now I have to make a very, very complicated decision...

well, i got waitlisted too kelsee. im bummed, but maybe by some chance we'll end up getting in! haha, i hope..... congrats ckp! good luck on your decision, and remember there are some really cool kids named kelsee and ana who would gladly take your spot if you dont go to roosevelt so dont feel bad! hahah, just kidding, you go to whichever school your little heart desires!

congrats!! you'll get to know my two best buds ever!! Best of luck on your decision!

I got into today Roosevelt CCPA for musical theatre with a nice scholarship too:) YAY! Good luck to everyone!!!

Amy - so happy for you!

haha ana-I wish it were as simple as choosing a school, but it is kinda crazy because I am transferring and I don't know if I would go to roosevelt for more than a year or not. I am about 85% sure that I would reaudition and see what I get into if I get cut from my current program, and then see how I like the new one. But I also might just take a year for gen eds to save cash and work a lot too unless i get big scholarship, cause 6 years of college would be tough for $$.

Hey, if you are around 5'3" with short dirty brown hair and a slim athletic build, maybe you may take my place!

Oh and congrats amy!! Is it ur 1st choice? we shold talk...

i just got my acceptance letter today for Musical Theatre! i am so pumped! i am def. going to Roosevelt.

I just got into Musical Theatre at CCPA and I am so excited!!!

Just wondering if anyone knows how many freshmen they usually take and I know they have a senior showcase but I wasn't sure if they take it to NYC or if they just do it in Chicago?
I'm trying to decide between a couple of schools so any info on CCPA would be appreciated
Maggie

Thanks so much for the congrats from all! Roosevelt was one of my top choices, but I still have a few more letters coming this week..so we'll see how everything plays out. I also curious about the showcase & how many they took/auditioned. If anyone has that information, that would be fabulous:)

Hi everyone,

This may seem very annoying but I go to boarding school and right now I am home on spring break and stupidly I had everything sent to my school so everything is just waiting for me in my mail box. I have called the mail room just to see what I have gotten from different places and he said that one of the things was a letter from Roosevelt. (Here is the annoying question) for those of you who were accepted into the MT program was it just a letter that you recieved or a package type thing?

thanx!

Do they put everyone who didnt get in on the waitlist or just certain people?
