Acceptance notification

i just submitted my common app and jhu supplement, and let me tell you- it's so SURREAL. you click and POOF! it says something like "you have just submitted your application" that's it! so weird......

wow! 800 ED? that doesn't seem like too many..

i've been avoiding this site so that i would actually work on my essays/app instead of reading this site and just get more stressed about doing my app...but im back now! haha.

so, do they really send out emails? i might as well not turn my computer on starting in early-december......i'd SO rather get a letter....

^^ You do get a letter. Apparantly Hopkins sends out both a letter and an email on the same day. Email is used to appease the awaiting students.

That's what I was told anyway.

the awaiting students is everyone, lol
and yea, u get both, and u get the email ON the 15th.

Actually, you get a package rather than a letter (unless you're rejected or deferred, of course), which contains a very nice folder, which in turn contains lots of info. :)

package = big envelope?

Yes, a blue and white 1st priority envelope as I recall.

omgggggg i dont know why i keep coming to this topic. haha.

so what if you're applying to BME ED, and you get accepted to jhu, but not to the bme program. do you still get the subject line and the big package? haha.

hey i was wondering the exact same thing lol

i third it

fourth...

Whoever answers this question will get a cookie from me if we meet in JHU...haha

ok i got an answer...
this guy i know is at jhu this year, and he applied ed bme last year and got in jhu but did not get in bme, hes there now anyways, but i asked him what his email said, and he said it said "congratulations from johns hopkins." hehe so now thats settled
do i get a cookie?? hehe

nanaijuh you get a cookie! I'm not kidding...

If we both get into JHU and I get to meet you, I will seriously buy you a cookie...haha...

That's kind of misleading though, since it says "congratualtions..." but you really didn't get into BME...whatever....I would probably still go to JHU even if I don't get into BME...

haha avenger, im gonna remember this...lol

OK -- wow! You all need to relax and not return to this thread until December 15th. You are all stressing out way too much. If you applied ED it is out of your hands now...go enjoy yourself for a month. Try to forget about it...there is nothing else you can do.

As far as how you will find out...The day that decision letters are mailed by the Admissions office an e-mail is also sent to those students who submitted a correct and operational e-mail account with their application. The subject line changes from cycle to cycle, and also some times only admits are e-mailed.

If admitted you will receive a large package, if denied or deferred you will receive a letter. BME applicants admitted will receive a large package, and a letter stating whether or not you were accepted into the major. BME applicants not accepted into the major will have that decision deferred until regular decision.

The # of ED applicants is not determined yet because it is just Nov. 16th and the mail has to still arrive and be processed. The expectation it will be the same or a bit bigger than last year -- which means between 800-900.

And finally, decisions will be released when the Admissions Committee is done making decisions -- which will be December 15th. No earlier, no later. And no, we do not know what time the letters will be mailed and the emails sent.
