Did anyone receive a course catalog from Clemson before receiving a letter? I am applying as a transfer and I am wondering if they sent this to everyone or just people that are (hopefully) accepted.

Hey HoneyxBunny,

I received the course catalog then a few weeks afterwards got my acceptance into Clemson. (I applied as a transfer student also) But good luck and if it is anything like my situation you should receive an acceptance soon!

Son was accepted but no mention of merit award (oos). Web site states he could be awarded he had 29 on ACT, and GPA is high enough and so is class rank. I guess I need to call.

Just curious, how was your score? My son was offered the Bridge had a low SAT but excellent grades at rigorous high school. His SAT was only low on the math.

1320, 1950 total. i didn’t even get accepted.

Sec4life,
Were your other stats low? I got in with lower stats.

nope. had a 3.5 gpa, 4 APs, decent reccomendation. hopefully i’m at the top of the wait list.

Are you OOS? that could play a factor

yea i am
it’s ridiculous that it does

You have to keep in mind that the goal of public colleges is to educate the people of that state (which in that case is South Carolina). Your tax money isn’t going to pay for Clemson’s existence, thus there’s no reason you should get the same treatment during admissions. It sucks but that’s just how it is

^ Many state schools (such as the one in your and my home state) are deliberately increasing the number of OOS students, because they pay more.

Don’t know if the schools in South Carolina have started doing this yet.

sec4life - when did you apply? Did you visit the campus? Your stats and GPA are similar to my D’s, she got in with a nice package. We visited last summer and she applied pretty much the minute the app opened up. Maybe that made a difference.

that is true but with few exceptions (like Vermont), there will always be more in-state students than out of state students.

Your choice of major also matters - some at Clemson are more competitive than others.
