Acceptance Parade

Perhaps . . . I had retracted; but, now, I find out that you have IM access. E-mail and IM access counter-balance the extended time before you see your child.

And for all the darn good it is doing at the moment. My kid is running up & down the halls getting everybody else hooked up. I've been here 40 minutes waiting and all he said to me was BRB Mom, gotta help my mates. A person can only sit here so long eating mini-snickers before becoming very unfocused. I keep meaning to ask. Aug 6 seems so far away. Are you getting much mail from your kid? Best wishes to you & yours!

Boy, I gotta stop posting in here before Doc gets me again. We really could use that academy parent cafe. I can't pick on anybody in their safe zone and feel good about it.

I'm baaccckkkk... "Starship Troopers," a sci fi novel written by Robert Heinlein in 1959 mentions the great military academies of the past: Sandhurst, West Point, Colorado Springs... In the book, citizen requires prior military service. It's not mandatory to serve, but you just can't vote or hold office unless you have.

Now I have other threads to catch up on...

If you're lucky, I'll post a docfrance hiking photo for all to see.

See! Told you I'm scared of Doc. Secret meanings and synopsis when not even considering the "satire/irony" phrase I had encrypted in my message. Hated the book but loved the principle. Hope they put it back on tv saturday nights! ;) HEY! Its good you're back safe & soundish. Someone had a question while you were up-up & away. I tried to do your job and answer a question on AFA over in our site but failed miserably. Apologizing in advance. Firstly, I couldn't get my special powers to kick in and open the academic calendar on the main web site. All I wanted to do was to pry and be nosey a little about when CBT ends and the process in which it ends. I knew I'd have to come crawling back in here to ask for help......... You be nice to me. You just had a lovely vacation and I had to sit here and get monitor tan. Seriously, can you help with that question that was in here somewhere? OR better yet, come on over to the USMMA site where some parents are hanging out wondering about ya'll. Just one answer and you won't have to come back. Waiting on that photo! GITR DUNNNNNNNNNNN!

Won't go to the USMMA site, sorry. Too many other distractions... At USAFA, the basics will march back from Jack's Valley next Friday or Saturday. BCT will end on Sunday when they have "Doolie Dining-Out" at their sponsors' houses downtown. They'll return that evening to find the rest of the Cadet Wing back from Summer Programs and ready for "Transition Week." The basics will report to their Academic Year or "permanent" squadrons then and get ready for the school year to begin. On Tuesday, 9 August, they'll have the Acceptance Parade where they literally march into their permanent squadrons and are later given their "epaulets" with cadet fourthclass rank, signifying the real completion of BCT and their acceptance into the Cadet Wing. Classes start (I think) on Thursday, 11 Aug and run until finals week ends around 15 Dec. Hope this helped.

The USAFA calendar 05-06 (unofficial) can be found at the Association of Graduates web page: http://www.usafa.org/calendar.htm

Back to work...

Thanks Doc. Hope you don't mind, I'd used a little copy & paste action on your post so I could put the info where no one from "our place" could miss it. Very interesting. Still can't open your pix. Probably thanks to the overwhelming response and need to see you! Bet your already missing that clean mountain air and wish you were back there!

All the info I have see have the following dates:

4 Warrior Run
6 Class of 2009 BCT ends
7 Doolie Day Out
