I have been looking on the BC website and Naviance but have only found an overall acceptance rate. I have heard it is harder to get into CSOM than MCAS. Has anyone found acceptance rates broken down by school at BC? I’m curious whether there is a significant difference.
I heard second-hand from a tour attendee that the question was asked at an info session. Admissions responded that the acceptance rate is the same, or virtually the same, between MCAS and CSOM (I don’t know the precise language used).
Unfortunately, that doesn’t answer a slightly different question that I have, whether higher stats would be necessary for admission to CSOM. I too would appreciate any information on this.
My son is a first year in CSOM. He is so happy he is at BC!
We never saw a breakout of acceptance rate stats for CSOM vs MCAS. I attended Parents Weekend last week. Current 1st year class is 2412, about 112 more than their target enrollment. Half that number is MCAS and CSOM is a little more than 600 total first years. Hope this is helpful to you in terms of thinking about overall stats.
They don’t release the breakdown by college, but it is general knowledge on campus that CSOM is the hardest to get into.
^^That’s a rumor promulgated by those in CSOM.
But even if CSOM is harder, it doesn’t say how. For example, is it math test score? AP Calc BC? Then of course, there is gender. (Most other undergrad b-schools are over whelmed by apps from guys…)
GC told us that CSOM at BC looks for higher stats and rigor of math curriculum.
all top B-schools look for rigorous math. Calc is almost always required in the first year, so they want students who can do well.
So, it may depend on what is considered rigorous at your HS. The top ~25% of students at our HS took BC. That was just expected. But some of those students applied to A&S.
