I read in another thread that BU unweights GPAs in order to make more “holistic” assessments. I am in all honors and AP classes but the best that can be said of my GPA is that it’s “solid”. If BU really does strip GPAs of weight, I find it difficult to believe that my other statistics were able to compensate for the difference (especially given BU’s recent attempts to become more selective).

I’m very confused. . . are my expectations of BU too high?

What was the acceptance rate of Boston University Early Decision applicants this year? Was it exceptionally high? Does anyone know if (or have anecdotal evidence suggesting that) BU accepted merely decent GPAs this year, focusing on standardized test scores instead?

I asked the admissions office for the # of ED apps and the acceptance rate yesterday, and if they had these statistics, they weren't telling.

BU does consider heavily the rigor of your curriculum. My son's classes are probably similar to yours. His test scores were not as high as his GPA would indicate, though.
Hey, does it really matter? You're in.

BU should issue a news release shortly with the numbers we want to know.

Yeah, my school tries to compensate for our complete lack of grade inflation with a very odd weighting system, but if the weights were taken away, I think all of us that have been in mostly advanced classes would have somewhat lower GPAs than you might expect. They should pay attention to that.
