90k+ applicants? Wow. They plan to enroll 5,400.... which means around 15,000 were admitted?

Thats 16.67% and I think thats a pretty conservative calculation unless I'm missing something..

Where are you getting the 5,400?

And if it’s at 16.67% this year… wow. Last year was roughly 26% right?

Wait you’re right, where did I get the 5,400…

Rejection letter says 5400 I believe

Last year, they enrolled 5,824 students ([Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2011 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof11.htm)). And if it says 5,400 on the rejection letter… that’s why I wouldn’t know. >.> I don’t remember seeing that on the acceptance letter.

The acceptance letter I received says 90k, but the rejection letter says 72k from what I understood of the other threads…strange

90,000 is the total number of admission applications, including both first-time applicants and transfer applicants. However, I also find it odd as to why they decided to not keep the letters consistent with the number of applicants.

With the assumed info: 15k/72k ~ 20.8% acceptance.

Their goal is to enroll 5.4k but they can’t control the yield rate, which is why they have a waitlist. Last year the yield rate was much higher than they expected.

LostMyMind, the acceptance letter said they had 90,000+ applicants?

From the acceptance letter:

more like 70000 + 20000 transfer applicants. Gosh u guys, statistics can be so misleading and manipulated. Its obvious that they are gonna find a way to raise the number of applicants that is stated in their acceptance letter to make the students feel that it is that more of an accomplishment so that they would enroll there…basic stats manipulation…a college’s acceptance rate will not drop from 24 to 16 (or some even saying 7%) in ONE year, that is sooo unbelievably unrealistic hahah

^^That’s true…but UCLA only has so many beds…even transfers count…
