Anyone know the acceptance rate for this year? Is it around 30% like last year?

21% is the overall rate

Last year, the acceptance rate was 27%.

Any idea what the RD rate is?

Lower. (10 characters)

also thats not the best predictor. the individual schools fluctuate more

for example, human ecology is usually over 30%, while arts and sciences is usually around 15%

what about engineering?

That's implausible. AEM is the most competitive major and it's admit rate is ~19%

It seems quite plausible to me since AEM is a major in CALS, not Human Eco. Do the math for yourself.

I was referring to his other factoid

I have never heard that AEM is the most competitive major except on this board. All I know is that it is an easy major with a lot of athletes in it.

CAS will probably have a 15-20% accept rate :S

what about hotel school?

no way its 21% you cant go from 27 to 21 in one year. arts and sciences should be in the low twenties maybe 20 flat.

actually, it is 21%... there was a press release a while ago.. link is on this forum

It's not true. It's a conspiracy to make Cornell look more selective.

(seriously though dropping 10% in two years??)

it is true.

it's not a conspiracy that Cornell just made up and decided to release.

I know a 10% drop in 2 years is alot, but applications increased from around 19,000 two years ago to over 28,000 this year. You do the math.

Also, AEM is not the most selective major. Architecture is, I believe the acceptance rate into the program is in the single digits.

ah seriously? i guess i'm screwed then. I applied as an arch major. It's ok, i never expected to get in anyway. this just confirms it.

look on the class 2010 website the article is right there and in the cornell daily sun and there is already a thread on this

It's not a conspiracy. The number of applicants jumped from 20882 in 2004 to 24452 in 2005. This year there are 28000+ applicants, a 34+% increase in the number of applicants in two years.
