Hi All,

BUSM web site indicates 1.17% acceptance rate after Bachelors.

I am astounded at such a low rate of acceptance in MD programs.

Is this sort of usual across the board at all med schools? Please post acceptance rates at other schools for traditional entrants (after a bachelors degree).

1.) Those are matriculants/applicants, not acceptances/applicants. So those aren't the acceptance rates, which at Duke is approx. double that. USN has the actual acceptance rates available.

2.) Those are for any particular school, of course. Obviously the rates of getting into a medical school at all are much better than that.

3.) Yeah, those are pretty typical. Maybe a little on the low side, but not dramatically so.

All the data for the 2006 application cycle.

There were 483148 total applications from 39108 applicants. Only 17370 matriculated. If you were to look at applications - it's only 3.5% of individual applications result in acceptance. But of course an applicant can send out many more than just one application.
