Acceptance Rates

Currently a first year at UVA, looking at potential majors and what not since class registration is coming up shortly.
Does anyone know how competitive it is to transfer into the architecture school from the college of arts and sciences? The program seems really interesting but they haven’t really published any statistics or anything.
Does anyone know the acceptance rate for the Batten school? Additionally, any graduates of it have any comments on it? What’s the main difference between that and a politics major?
Anyone have any statistics about entrance into the Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law program?
Any insight is greatly appreciated, anyone currently in HS feel free to ask about UVA if you want

My son recently graduated from the Batten bachelors program and really liked it. It has become much much more competitive recently for acceptance. I’m sure the School can give you stats. It was much easier to register for classes, and the class sizes were smaller than within the Politics Dept. Many of the classes are more practical than political, such as use of statistical programs that are valuable in government and business.

My son originally was interested in the 5 year Batten masters. However, once he dug into the details, he found it was almost impossible for him to actually finish it within 5 years, unless he took summer classes and extra classes during the school year. That was because you needed a major other Batten for your undergrad. He wanted to do a major in the Politics dept. However, the Poltics Dept (as of 2 years ago) inexplicably refused to let Batten undergrad classes count as classes related to government, in order to meet Politics major requirements. You could count economics, history etc as related to government, but not courses on public policy. Therefore, he had trouble meeting the undergrad Politics major requirements and the Batten grad requirements. He would have needed to take on lots of debt for the 9th and 10th semesters anyway, so he just finished the Batten bachelors.

Maybe the policy has changed since then. I was guessing it was driven by jealousy of the Politics dept. over the private funding that the Batten School controls. (It was founded with a $100 million gift from the founder of the Weather Channel).

Batten recently increased their grad tuition. Statements were made at that time that they would be increasing aid for grad students with the increased revenue.
