anais,
my d didn't get a confirmation e-mail that her application was received, just the recent letter of acceptance. why not just give them a quick call to make sure your paperwork is there and restate your interest in attending?

Anais, as I recall they did not send confirmation emails/letters. I agree with the above poster - I think it's an excellent idea to call and inquire while at the same time expressing your strong interest in Amherst, etc. This way you get to establish communication with the person who deals with diversity, URMs. Best of luck.

has anyone got a rejection letter yet?

Well, still nothing yet.

I'm not afraid to say that I just got my rejection letter in the mail today. However, I am white, I have already visited Amherst and my dad is a lawyer. If anyone hasn't received their letters yet it is b/c the dean was traveling. I would like to hear from anyone else who got rejected and what their stats are. My SAT was only a 2020.

The rejections vary. I got in with a 2150 with 3.94 GPA, but my essay was a heartbreaker, which gave me an impression that "this got me in." although there is no way for me to know that. There was a person who was rejected with 2350 and 3.97. The stats of rejectionees and admitted students don't really matter because it's a crapshoot once you get above the "qualified level". That being said, your stats are a bit low for a white affluent(lawyer dad?) male. This is perhaps one of the biggest applicant pool, and as interesteddad said, the adcoms raise the bar for applicants with high socioeconomic standing. As i replied on the other post, you'd have to raise the test scores before you're a LEGIT applicant. Otherwise it's a pretty far reach.

If I did not receive a reply yet for the 2nd session, is it safe to say I am rejected? I have a national circuit speech tournment that same weekend and the deadline for the deposit is now. I want to go to Diversity weekend more than anything, but if I wait too long for the decision, I'm going to lose my spot for the tournment, and it would really suck if i don't even get accepted for the weekend.

I would say that you should go to the speech tournament

I feel like I should too, but even a chance at going to Diversity Weekend is so hard to pass up considering it is my dream school.

honestly if you haven't received a letter thus far, it's safe to say that you're rejected...but call to make sure...I was rejected and I got the mail a few weeks ago...a college rep from the diversity house also emailed me a few days ago for a chat, so make sure you call!

I called and they said the last batch of decisions are comming out the end of september. I applied for 2nd session BTW.

I got into the first weekend (CA Bay Area), and it was so freaking scary...they apparently LOST my travel consent form after I faxed it, and if I hadn't called the office to check up, I wouldn't be going.

Hey AnaisV, have you received your letter yet?

Still nothing yet. I wonder why it's taking so long for me.

Wow, I have officially given up on getting that response letter...

I just received my acceptance letter today. Thanks everyone for your support. :)

So glad to hear, better late than never! My D will be there too, she's from Oregon. Have a fun weekend and maybe there'll be beautiful fall colors to make you fall in love with Amherst all the more!
EM

Anais, I am happy to hear that you got a positive response. Enjoy your visit to Amherst!
