Acceptance/Rejection Letters

never doubt yourself without good reason. Us CCers don't know you in real life!! So go with your gut feeling!

They're great academically and athletically; it's just that their social scene is a little preptastic, at least according to everything I've ever heard of the school. In the info I received from them there was a DVD and the only things the guys said on it were "I was, like, wayyy too creative for my old school, but now I'm at Hotchkiss I can totally like rock out whenever I feel like it!" and "Yeah dude, I'm such an athlete, a blond, preppy athlete with shining locks!"

What phenomenon, a preppy phenomenon?

"Shining locks!"

I giggled, I admit it!

Yeah Andover has a great volleyball program, they almost won New Englands this year ... 2nd place finish.

Lol are you expecting a "Who came in first prezomar!"...HOTCHKISS.

Hotchkiss is a bit preppy in the sense that your studying with the richest people in the world. I mean I you go to class with Henry Ford's great great grandson or Mr Mars grand son or grand daughter. The guys who will be running wall street in 30 years. BUT once you get used to it its totally cool. They do like dressing nice, they are incredibly good at sports, and the are really smart etc. but they aren't arrogant at all. Which is cool. They are all very down to earth. Plus they still do have around 40% on Financial aid so you do get your poor types as well. Everyone is really warm and welcoming the sense of community at Hotchkiss is very very strong it really is a huge family. The hotness of the student body really is just a bonus, I'm there for the killer debate and business programs. I suck at sports ... but then again I am the exception.

Divealive - Exeter does have a dive team. And swim team and water polo.

@ PhotoOp:
Wow, I just figured that out. But on the website, on the main directory page, it just lists "swimming" while on the Coaches page, it's listed under "swimming and diving"?
Nor is it listed on BSR..
So does this team actually do anything, or is it more of a meet-up-once-a-year type thing?

It's a real team. Swim and dive are winter sports going on right now. Look on the website and you will see the schedule of meets. Maybe this link will get you there:

Phillips Exeter Academy | Athletics

In the drop down menu select next week and you will see boys swim and dive. They also have girls swimming and diving, it's just not on next week's schedule.

Saer, what did you see in the Choate dorms? I thought they were simply out-dated on the inside, very dirty, and the rooms were so small--double at Choate=single at Exeter.

WHAT! Well, I wouldn't know for every dorm, but the 10th grade dorms are brand new this year, and they are slowly updating the other dorms, from what I gathered. The double I saw was larger than my mother's in college, and the singles were fantastic. Clean and well-kept, the closets were huuuge! And the furniture was new and not marked up at all. All in all, the dorm was a huuuge plus for me.

The nicest dorm that I saw was BY FAR Deerfield. I mean Deerfield looked like a hotel. Exeter was barely more than a classroom. Deerfield looked like a beach villa(The white walls, carpet and windows gave it the feeling).

same here. i loved deerfield dorms

Deerfield's dorms were sooo nice! Clean, big, modernized... Andover is my first choice but I wish THEY had dorms like that

On the topic of acceptance/rejection envelopes...

My sister, who was applying to BS, had a 97% SSAT, all A's, ect got flat out rejected to Exeter. The decision came in a small envelope. Inside there was merely 1 slip of paper describing how "difficult" the decison was. She was rejected...

These schools look at so much more than just grades and test results. They look at the overall person. Maybe that was why your sister was rejected! LOL sorry, it just seemed too perfect... I don't know your sister but clearly she was a qualified applicant.

Yeah, I'm afraid of the single slip of paper. That would be a nightmare...

Ya its a scary thought, but then you think about 3 - 4 single slips papers..that would be horrible. But I mean, I doubt it for a lot of CCers...we'll see.

If you suspect you did not get into Exeter, I would advise waiting for the letter and not checking online. My friend recieved a rejection to Exeter last year, and the online thing read something like:

"You have been rejected to Phillips Exeter Academy. A rejection letter will arrive for you shortly."

And that's it. He said it really hurt to read that, but the letter in the mail is actually much more comforting, and longer.

It sounds harsh, doesn't it? Now I'm scared to check Exeter's online, lol.

Large Flat Rate Envelope: GOOD
Small Envelope: BAD

Can anyone receive online notices of acceptances/rejections or is it just interntl applicants?
