Acceptance/Rejection?

I'm still waiting as well. I fell asleep waiting for the mail to come, and when I woke up, there was still nothing there from Otterbein...

ActingReacting, sorry for this disappointment. Please know that when there are only four slots for boys and four for girls, that there are many more that are good enough to get in but they can't take them all. Hopefully, other schools will work out and in any case, you'll pursue what you are interested in as there are many ways to do that.

Kegosnell....wow, that is quite good to be waitlisted! I know DoctorJohn has said that they don't accept more than the number of slots available due to the small size of the program and so they do go to the waitlist if not all 4 girls, or boys, depending on your gender, choose to enroll. So, ya never know! No matter what, that is a great accomplishment to get to this point.

I got another letter today, I was accepted to the BA in Theatre program.

Congratulations!

How big were each of your letters?

I haven't posted for a long time at the request of my S. but felt I had to share the good news. Yesterday he received his acceptance into the BFA in Musical Theater with a Concentration in Dance. Our entire family is ecstatic! He also received very generous academic and talent awards. Thank-you, thnak-you Dr. John! You made our day! (not to say month and year) :-}
Mtaussie

Yay for MTaussie's son! And yay that CC has a MT BFA acceptee at Otterbein...hope there are more in the future!

Best wishes on your happy news.
Susan

Thank-you for your kind words, Soozievt. I'm wondering if my S is the first CC kid to get into Otterbein's BFA MT program. Just curious . . .
MTaussie

Congratulations MTaussie - I believe he is the first CC'r!

Received my letter and I was put on the wait list for MT...hope something opens up. fingers crossed X

TheatreJock, that is also a great accompishment. I know that DoctorJohn has written in the past that he does not accept more students than places available due to the smallness of the program and so if someone declines the offer of admission, they do go to the waitlist. So, ya never know. You are doing well in the college admissions process overall. Congrats.

MTaussie, a big shout out and WOOT! for your son. We're MI folks too, and my daughter is 95% certain she'll be at Otterbein in the fall (BA Music [voice] program since she wants to double major). Who knows, we may pass you on 75 next fall!

TheatreJock, continuing to keep all appendages crossed for you...

Mezzomom,
Glad to hear of someone else from Michigan who got into Otterbein. Congratulations to your daughter! What part of Michigan are you from? We live in Oakland County which is north of Detroit. BTW S's best friend, who doesn't post on CC, was also waitlisted for MT at Otterbein. We're keeping our fingers crossed for him too!
MTaussie

MTaussie: HUGE congrats to your son!! I'm from MI, too -- the west side, near Grand Rapids! Yay, for Michiganders!

TheatreJock: Woot! Three cheers for Otterbein waitlistees! high five Congrats. Let's hope openings turn up for both of us! (I am a girl, so we aren't exactly "competing" for a spot -- this is a good thing! ;-))

I came home to like four letters from Otterbein today. Unfortunately, while I was accepted to the college with a $7K/yr scholarship, I didn't make it into the school of theatre/dance. So I guess I won't be attending. I still have Ithaca, Hartt, and Emerson to hear from, and otherwise, I'm off to OCU.

I am sorry beastar. My D got two letters from them today, and she's at rehearsal for another hour and a half, so I won't know for awhile for her. But I am glad you know you can go to OCU. Thi waiting is so hard, and I know how disappointing getting bad news is, but hang in there. Next year at this time, this will be a distant memory, and you will be settled into a fine program pursuing what you love.

Our son received his letter that he's waitlisted for M/T- so, here's hoping. Best wishes to all those still waiting to hear. To those not accepted, hopefully, you can take something worthwhile from the audition process at Otterbein and put it to work for you. I know our son absolutely gained from his time with them. Good luck to you all!

I would like to add that Otterbein, true to form, has the nicest rejection letter my D has recieved. It was beautifully written, and sent a more hopeful message to students who didn't make the cut than any other we have so far gotten. Thanks Dr. John. Your thoughtfulness shows once again.

regected...

MTaussie, we're in northern Macomb County, where it's still mostly soy and cornfields. But my daughter attends HS at a charter performing arts high school almost an hour south of us, so she gets the best of the urban and rural worlds.

Wishing good results to all of you, at Otterbein and elsewhere.
