Acceptance/Rejections..

Sorry, was just following all the other sheep. Yeh, got into GS “The happy school for non-trads”. Though, it’s hella expensive, though NYC would be a nice change from NEHLA (Northeast Hollywood, Los Angeles)

JUST got accepted into UCSB for film!
They said I couldn’t get into my first choice which I accidentally put as Bio…
I’m going to try and switch into psych there if I can.

Still Pending everywhere else!

ben8jam - I’m thinking of transferring to Columbia University GS. I don’t really know how to apply though. I took a year off after high school for work (I think this qualifies).

Do you have any pointers about transferring to CU for GS?

do u need a SAT score for Colombia? also what kind of gpa is required?

Thanks

My friend found out he got to Colombia a couple weeks ago, and he is also a returning student. Colombia has special admission for returning students (School of General Studies, which is specifically designed for returning/nontraditional students). If you are not returning/nontraditional students, transferring to Colombia would be extremely competitive like other Ivy leagues.
Also, you do not need to have SAT to apply (my friend didn’t) but if you don’t, you’ll have to take the English test offered by Colombia and your admission will be based partly on the result of that test (it’s just like a replacement for SAT).

^ You mean Columbia?

lol yeah my bad beardy

@tatty, i know it’s pretty competitive but i figure coming from Vanderbilt i’m not at a HUGE disadvantage

Major: Philosophy
UC-transf. GPA: 3.81
Accepted: UC Davis
Pending: UCLA, UC Berkeley

Regarding Columbia GS - I was accepted 4 days after the Early Decision deadline of March 1st. They did not accept my SATs since they were over 8 years old so I had to take an admissions exam. Three hour long standardized test. Pretty easy. I flew out there in February to take it.

My GPA was not so good ten years ago (2.5) but this fall I got a 4.0 so I’m sure that helped me. I also have alot of work experience running my own consulting business and had two very good rec letters.

I really want to go there, but the thought of 50-60k in debt is scary.

@sweetpotato: I was not saying that you or anyone is at huge advantage :frowning: … I actually do not know much about Columbia’s policy of accepting transfer students from CC and 4-year institutions. What I said was that being a returning/nontraditional students is a huge advantage when applying to Columbia coz they have special admission for those students. If you’re not, then you have to compete with a pool of very qualified applicants just like you. Anw, gudluck with Columbia :)

oh i know!! im sorry my post wasn’t meant to have any kind of an attitude towards you it was just my perspective lol. im sorry you misunderstood!! :)

SDSU claimed that they had a “glitch” with their computer. I think it’s false because of the budget cuts. However, due to so many student complaints, they emailed students who qualified, but were rejected to send in their transcripts electronically for re-evaluation. I was notified after a week that I was accepted. -__-
