"I have a question along the same lines...I cut a class (once) and got Saturday School for it. My school admins don't seem to think it's that big a deal, but I'm still a little worried, just 'cause I'm SO SHOCKED I got in!! So anyway, d'you guys think Harvard would care?"

Youre going down a slippery slope young lady

Haha...oh yes, shame on me. The saturday school itself was awesome, though--involved the police being called in and EVERYTHING--and I think I'm seriously just trying to think of reasons I might not be able to go because it's sooooo amazing that I can. Yeah. Okay. The end.

hmmm.. alright... what would you guys say would be a very safe GPA or grade distribution for me so that i can be confident that my acceptance will not be rescinded<<

We don't know. Only Harvard knows that. Reread your acceptance letter. Doesn't it say something about them expecting you to finish high school at the same high level of performance? That's your real answer.

And you are asking the wrong question. You shouldn't be asking: how low can I go and not be rescinded? You should be asking (your teachers): What can I do to make sure my grades show no significant drop?

Y'know what's weird...ever since getting in, I've been MORE motivated. It's like I want to be worthy of it or something! Of course, this feeling might go away in a few days, but it's nice to finally WANT to do my stupid French homework again.

i got rejected from harvard but im english and got into cambridge over here. YOU HAVE GOT IT EASY! We have to meet our grades. I need all As at A level, so ive got the offer from cambridge but there is a surprising percentage who miss their grades. Im genuinely scared, i envy your nice run into those long summer months.

wow that IS scary, trachea. After EA MIT, I almost got a C in Chemistry. Because unlike the weird ;) entropicgirl, I immediately stopped caring about high school after getting in. I even threw all my textbooks in the trash...til i realized i would have to pay for them. so then i fished them back out.

lol I find it strange how admissions decisions affect some people's performances in high school.

After getting rejected from every single school I applied to (save one, due to a state law), including Harvard, I haven't lowered my effort in high school at all.

I guess that's just because I enjoy learning the stuff we learn. Sort of motivates me heh.

Thanks hikkifan. It's the fact that I got in due to that stupid rule that irks me, also. It makes me feel as though my stats are not good enough to get in anywhere.

I don't even want to go to that school, but I am forced to because it is my only choice.

Hey, don't beat yourself over the head. It's a good thing. In TX, if we're in the top ten percent, we are guaranteed a spot in any public texas school. And there was a really good chance I could have not been accepted where I wanted to go. But UT itself is awesome, so I would not have minded going there. And best part, I know I'm in. No worries!

And what in the world is wrong with UT?
[/quote]

It is not the best environment for me given my aspirations to go to medical school.

I suppose such feelings are probably influenced by what some of my friends have told me: "dude if you want to become a doctor do not go to UT..it's a ****ty school if you want to go into medicine"

Yea that's pretty much verbatim what my friend said.

Not that my friends always know best, but the intensity of his words leads me to believe that although UT may not be as bad as my friends poses it to be, it's certainly sub-par regarding preparation for medical school.

Wow. Austin, well you should know something about it then. It's weird, I'm talking to someone right now who lives in Dallas and is also going to medical school. He's trying to decide between UT Austin and UT Dallas. I suggested Baylor or U of Houston. Of course, it's too late for either...I don't know anything about UT's medical school - in fact, I had no idea UT had one.

Heh I'm in high school going into college; I'm not looking at graduate schools.

I was not referring to UT's medical school. I was talking about the quality of undergraduate education UT provides for preparing students to go to medical school.

I would have liked to go to go to Baylor or Rice, but I was rejected from both.

right, i didn't mean graduate school. i guess i just thought that undergraduate (pre-med) still took place in a medical school within the university. :p

wait...question...
i went from mostly a's -> no a's at all (got a-'s b+'s b's) and there's no chance of raising them by the end. however i just took an impossible multi-variable calc midterm that's about 50% of my grade and it was absolutely impossible. if i get one c in a class that's not even an ap or honors, will my acceptance get taken away? also taking my falling grades into consideration?
