Finally, once you’ve made your final decision and accepted a school, let me know so I can highlight that school.
For the ones that are experienced with the University of Indiana, how does their acceptance process work? Son was accepted by UI in early December before the Jacob School of Music interview was scheduled. We understand the financial aid info is on the way from UI. Will there be a separate acceptance and merit /scholarship process from the Jacob School of Music? We haven’t heard any updates from Jacob after the interview. Thanks for your input.
IU (not UI) has two separate acceptances. The first is by the University and the second is by Jacobs. My understanding is Jacobs gives the scholarships. In general Jacobs has been late on giving the scholarships…right up to the last minute so be prepared for that. Jacobs in the past has rolled admissions. It will generally give some admission about 3 weeks after each audition weekend. However that may be different now with Covid. For my D she had her University acceptance in the fall and her Jacobs acceptance in late Feb (auditioned early Feb). The scholarship came right at the end of March. This was for undergrad and grad auditions.
If you have questions, you can always email music admissions and ask for expectations on timing. It’s not a problem to ask.
This is very helpful. Thank you. This year they didn’t have a live virtual audition. S sent audition recordings online at end of January. Correction - he didn’t have an interview. All was done online. Just received their financial aid package which only had some loan information, but that’s expected. Thanks again.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if you receive denials or do you just never hear back from certain schools? Just trying to get a grasp on a plan moving forward. We have a bunch of schools still in limbo, many of which were the video submission auditions. My D has done some interviews as well as theory/placement tests for some of those schools as well.
