Acceptance Thread

my app was completed 11/9 and i m out of state

Does UMIch primarily look at GPA and SAT/ACT like other state schools? Or does it consider EC's too?

GPA and SAT/ACT is #1 for Mich. They look at the other stuff, but it means more for other programs, and less for LSA.

does anyone know if engineering is more numbers based?

So what makes UMich a competitive school to get into? Just the high number of applications and low number of seats?

I thought it was like the Ivies (Harvard,Yale, etc) which have excellant applicants that all have great GPA's and SAT/ACT scores and need to look at EC's to use as a rationing device?

^probably, but if you don't have the numbers, good luck getting in, and if you have a 2400 and a 4.0 with very hard classes and are instate, I doubt you will be rejected (you would probably have to kill someone). At (o let's say) Harvard, a 4.0 with hard classes and a 2400 will not guarantee you admission. Mich is very competitive because they have lots of applicants with 30+ and 3.7+. The people with less can still get in, but they will need to have very good ECs and essays.

My Unweighted junior year GPA was 3.8 and I have an ACT score of 30.. I am an international student... good essays and EC's.. What do you think my chances are for the engineering school? This wait is killing me!!! I got my 4 of 4 confirmation a week or so ago..

I have a 32 act with 32 on the math. I have a 4.0 gpa but only 3 ap classes. Very few ec's. But the 3 ap's i have are all math-science related: chem, ap calc, and physics. Any thoughts?
