Acceptance Thread

Who knows.

They lost me teacher reccomendation, so basically all I have to go on is a form the teacher sent in.

My app is still complete, tho. Does anyone know if that letter would help significantly, or should I just forget about it since my app is complete anyways?

The post explicitly said it was for transfer and it was for WINTER. Simmer down. Of course they're reading and deciding winter applications.

i guarantee they wont even be thinking about freshman undergrad apps until they get the transfers done... which is prolly why they wont start till mid to late november

Yeah. I don't know where people keep getting the late october thing from, because every time I have called the admissions people keep saying they highly doubt anything will happen before mid november for anyone.

But someone said people had already been accepted by mid-October last year...why would they start so late this year?

I WANT TO KNOW NOW!

They may be holding off because of MCRI. I homestly don't know. People suggested late-October to be the earliest date because that's what it was in previous years.

They haven't STARTED looking at applications yet let alone making admissions decisions alyssieann. Be patient!!! If you're a strong applicant, you're going to get in anyway.

yeah they haven't started doing anything yet.

Maybe its MCRI, but it is probably more to due with the higher and higher applicant rate these days. Or maybe this year they are going to admit in bigger batches.

Yes, in past years it has been October.

This year may be different -- based on reports from individual admissions counselors.

This is not because they want to deal with winter transfers first. We have winter transfers every year. They do not interfere with fall processing.

Are the computers still malfunctioning, since the status page still says I haven't turned anything in. I applied three weeks ago.

Wolverine access just displayed they got all my stuff on Oct 19th even though I had my stuff all submitted on Sept 25th. So I don't think three weeks is too bad :S. When I called last Monday they told me they were three weeks behind due to the computer problems. Another reason they might be behind (I don't remember where I read it, but I thought it was intresting) is that they are recieving more apps. Usually if a f-ball team is ranked #1 in the nation, they recieve 35% more apps that...and UM is 2/3 atm. Haha, like I said I don't know whether this is true or not, I just seem to recall reading that somewhere

If Michigan manages to go 13-0 this year, beatting OSU and winning the Fiesta Bowl, you can expect a surge in the applicant pool. I'd say from 26,000 last year to over 30,000 this year.

I submitted September 30th and yesterday all my stuff was received. Hey Alexandre, are you from Dubai or just living there? Several of my cousins live there.

Complaining isn't going to make your admissions process any faster. The Office of Admissions is incredibly busy during this time so just wait it out.

I only live here. I come from Lebanon.

I'm just really impatient.

But I have a question...Once they DO start looking at apps, they'll look at them in order they've received them right? They better.

Yeah, Michigan uses the rolling admissions system so it's basically first come, first serve. But if they didn't, what would you be able to do about it?

ACtually that's incorrect...slgihty Azurek. They look at apps on a first come first serve basis only after all parts of the application is recieved. So in other words, if you send in your app on Sept 5th and none of your recs/transcript tilll like October 5th, someone who had everything on by Sept 30th would be looked at first... :)

It also depends on the volume of applicants from one's own geographic area. If your application is complete on October 1st, along with another 2,734 applicants from your area, your application would probably be handled later than a candidate who applied on November 1st, but along with just another 14 applicants from her/his area.

damn you alaskans!
