Acceptance Thread

wow, didn't know that. Sucks if your from Orange County.

damn you scuba steve!

i hear 12-14 weeks from october 20th??

is this true?

I have no idea.

Lately, I've been seeing lots of in-Michigan apps have delayed due dates until november 15th. Specifically, MSU's specialty programs.

does this have anything to do with proposal 2?

but more importantly....so the first people to apply will be finding out in late january??

wait...this is not good...I need to hear back before then to see if I need to apply to another school...damn.

unless you are all talking about getting in for the winter semester...you need to chill out! fall admits dont hear until as late as march

If you're not a clear-cut admit and your decision is deferred, as was the case with loads of '06 kids last admissions cycle, it'll be more like mid-April.

Excusing the delay: Their website says that decisions are given from the late fall through the early spring. Yes, if you're deferred you'll find out your final decision much later, but you should be notified of the defferal way earlier, right? I don't really know, but I'm just wondering, because I'm extremely nervous and anxious to find out their decision for me. Hopefully it can come in the late fall... but you're all saying that I'm being ridiculously hopeful, and because of the delay it might be later yet. And hopefully not. I applied September 20-ish, so hopefully I'll be in the first batch, maybe late fall.

Last year the first batch got admission decisions in late October but this year I"m guessing mid-November cause they are behind. And you will be given notification if your deferred much earlier...you won't recieve final decision till ilke April if you are though

At any rate, people need to post here as soon as they get their decisions, haha, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm so nervous about this, it's ridiculous.

From Michigan website:

I recently submitted an application to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Michigan. When will decisions be released?

Thank you for submitting an application to the University of Michigan! At this time, we are receiving a high volume of applications and are working to make sure that all required information is matched to the appropriate file. Because we receive an extremely large quantity of application materials in the mail each year, it takes a considerable amount of time to process each application and the pertinent supplemental forms, before an application is ready for the admission review process. Once your application is complete, we use a very thorough review process to ensure the application receives a comprehensive and holistic review.

In order to give each application a full and robust review, we expect that we will not begin releasing admissions decisions until November. Thank you for your patience.

Hurray, useful information, thank you. Looks like my anticipation of Thanksgiving won't be so far off, possibly. I applied September 21st, so maybe I'll be in the first batch or so, and will be one of the ones to get the decision in November.

i applied a few days before you...when's the cutoff for the first batch?

I applied October 2nd, and I got my confirmation number today! (I actually called last week and got it, but they just sent the e-mail today. I hope I find out sometime in November too, but I can only hope....

ohhh, i remember these days all too well... waking up sick to my stomach on fridays cus those were the days acceptances were posted on wolverine access, checking cc obsessively, etc...

just try enjoying senior year- something i forgot to do first semester- because it will be over too fast, and in the end you'll end up where you should be and all will be right and you'll look back on how STRESSED out you got and realize how much of a waste it was...

and then next october you'll be sitting on the 9th floor of south quad because you put off your 6 page great books paper until the night before it was due at midnight, and you'll be on college confidential giving useless advice and procrastinating... okay, maybe that last parts just me...

I can definitely relate with the obsessive checking of cc... and other obsessiveness. And I can't help it, I just need to be accepted so badly, haha, and I feel like I could have done a lot better job on my application in general, man. Great post though, HauckT, and hopefully true, even to the end.
