Ok, so my first acceptance letter just came in, I got into Penn State. But the letter did not say anything about getting into the engineering program. I applied into it, and the letter says I got into the college, but doesn't say anything about the engineering school. I dont know what to think, and even though i feel like this is a stupid question,I do need help!

Does it say you were accepted into the College of Engineering and have the words University Park somewhere in the first sentence or paragraph? If it does, that means you’re in. Penn State doesn’t accept you into a given major right away, they just accept you into the college that the major you want is in, and then at the end of your second year they admit you into your choice of major if you meet the criteria.

hmm i see. what it actually says is that they placed me on the wait list for university park, and if they have room they will let me know before June 5. they say if space is not available I will go to one of the other campuses, and that 60% of Penn State freshmen start in this fashion.

So you go in as what, a university studies major? until the end of sophomore year? because that’s when the letter says i would be transferred to UP after two tears at another campus.

From what I’ve heard, you would be put into the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) most likely. Then hopefully be able to transfer to University Park to complete your junior and senior years. If it helps, should you choose this route, when you graduate your diploma will still say that you graduates from University Park, and that’s really all that matters.

Does it say if you got into college of engineering? You can be accepted into the CoE but the campus is another story.

Every engineering student takes basically the same classes the first two years because you are in “pre engineer” status until you declare your choosen discipline the spring semester of your sophomore year so no need to worry if you didn’t get into UP.

DUS is only if you completely don’t know what you want to major in.
