I'm a SoCal resident in LA and I just found out today that UC San Diego sent an email informing me that my acceptance was withdrawn because I had received a D during my first semester of senior year in calculus. Yes, I know that through this I hadn't fulfilled all the requirements for admission since UC's don't accept D or F grades. I had already sent in an appeal today explaining my situation, and now comes the hardest part... waiting for their decision.
My mind is scattered with worries for the future. What do I do from here on out? At this late in the year, can I enroll somewhere else for the Fall of 2014? What are my other options? What do I do about FAFSA? Someone please help me. Thank you!

Community College is really the only other option. Or a gap year, which is probably a bad idea in your case.

Work with your guidance counselor and talk to them about this. Or someone at UCSD. Or your parents.

You need to decide if you want to:
- Go to a different college. See here for colleges that are still accepting applications. See The National Association for College Admission Counseling’s annual “College Openings Update”

2)Start at a Community College and transfer

3) See if you can go to UCSD stilll…could you take a summer course in Calculus?

With all of those you need to figure out what the financial implications are.

Also, figure out why you failed Calculus. Did you bring up your grade in the second semester? Why didn’t you bring up your grade first semester? What strategies did you use to try to do so?
