Can you still be accepted into a school if you have a certain amount of FA that they cannot meet
my parents income is really low but they are both practically retired so i am worried we might get to much need and the school might look and say "o we cant meet that, REJECTED"
Should I attempt to explain this to my admissions officer
any insight would be greatly appreciated

This varies by school. Some will waitlist you, some will accept you but not give aid, and I’ve heard of some (Hotchkiss? or maybe Choate?) that will be kind enough to tell you that the reason you were not offered admission is because they couldn’t meet your need.

Personally, I would like to know when FA puts my children in the waitlist or rejected pile. I think the idea is that some schools think it’s like rubbing salt in the wound to accept a kid who cannot pay to go. But I look at it as a kind of balm. At least the kid knows it wasn’t anything personal - that he was indeed “good enough.” After all, they have no control over how much money their parents make.

That would “mess up” the acceptance rate and yield.

is needing just like a 1/4 of tution going to hurt me
