Acceptance

Did anyone get into UConn that had around a 3.0 gpa (UW) and around an 1700 or so on SAT's? I am a junior right now and i know everyone is getting their decisions right about now.

I know people who have got accepted with unweighted grade point averages in the 3.0 range. I’m not telling you it’s not possible to get in with a 3.0, and that it’s impossible either. When I was applying to UConn in high school, I heard of kids with low stats getting accepted over kids who had impressive, high stats. Sometimes, and some do agree with me, that it’s almost random. I know kids from my high school that were rejected and were in the National Honor Society.

If you’re worried about your GPA, I suggest you try to get your SAT score a little bit higher, you have a solid score at 1700, and that’s a good score. I had a lower SAT score than you and got accepted. You have a lot of time to pick up your grade point average also; take AP classes, make sure you take Honors classes, it picks up your grade point average if you do really well. Don’t consider your senior year being “too late” to gain momentum for your grade point average, work hard, but it is definitely not unheard of to have a GPA of 3.0 and get accepted into UConn. I know people who have done it.

Keep in mind that the admissions consider: volunteer work, uniqueness, potential, personal statement, recommendations and extracurriculars. Visit the school, and when you apply, be persistent with the phone calls, they love that. I just applied, got accepted and bugged the hell out of them and I got accepted. There are too many determining factors to let a 3.0 decide your admissions decision. I can almost promise that you can raise your SAT score.

I have a 3.04 UW and an 1890 and I was accepted into engineering. It also probably helped that I have taken a ton of AP and honors, and have already taken multiple college courses in the field.

Accepted with 3.4uw and 1770 sat

@Invader71 - What major did you apply under?

And when is Uconn mailing decisions out?

Someone with a 3 GPA and under 1800 on their SATS could get in a few ways 1)extermely lucky 2)Minority 3)sports team 4)Over came sickness… Please if you got in with a 3 GPA and you are a white Jewish male without any of the above stated reasons. POST

^amazing… gosh i hope ur just an immature kid and not an adult trying to give advice.

Jenonymous I applied as undecided

wish you the best, my son just got WAITLISTED and won’t be told a decision until well after we have to make a deposit to one of the colleges he’s been accepted to (Late May) is when final decision comes in…

Battled cancer through High School couldn’t play sports
very disappointed in UCONN right now - Good luck, on the flip side he’s been accepted to some school’s that are much higher in ranking and harder to get into, like Northeastern in Boston, Fordham in NYC - just much more expensive too!
