Acceptance?

Hello,
I want to get my acceptance chances:

SAT I: 2110 [Math: 800, CR: 640, W: 670]
SAT II: [Math II: 660, Physics: 760, Biology - E: 750]

(I will be retaking the SAT II math in december. I did horribly)

Average High school score: 80% + (we dont have GPA's and letter grades in 11th) 10th board exam 87% (ICSE)

11th std. All rounder and General Proficiency 2. Rank 2 out of 25. Proficiency trophies in English and Computers

Sports: Soccer, Cricket, Badminton, Basketball (school team)
EC's: Theatre (drama team), Debate (state level), Elocution (rep. school)
Winner of the CSI computer olympiad (won a PDA), house captain

What are my chances of admission in these? Also, which would be most likely to give me financial aid? I am eligible for Fedral aid also as I am a US citizen, educated in India.

Also, my teacher recommenation letters are quite good, many outstandings and excellents..... and nothing remotely negative

Where do you place my chances at JHU?
I am not applying ED there as I require aid and cannot lock myself anywhere
Thanks,
Dhruv

chances as good as anybody just work on essays..thats what everyone tells me. and you can relax a bit as you might find a place in JHU campus as you are a US citizen.

Hey internationals ~

I hear that JHU looks favorably upon non-US applicants so no need to feel like you're at a disadvantage!! (um...it would be nice if a laxfan or someone who works at admissions could back me up on this...) but yeah, I had friends who were from Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Germany and Russia and almost all of them were accepted ED or REg!!!...and they weren't super geniuses (genii? lol) That should say something though, right? =) Best of luck to you guys! =D

luv=xtina*

Isn't it financial aid that keeps alot of internationals out? I might be wrong, so don't quote me.

So a few comments on international admissions at Hopkins...

(1) International applicants are held to the same standards of admission as domestic applicants, meaning it is not easier or harder for an international applicant to be admitted.

(2) There is staff who specifically read international applicants, and obviously reviews of curriculum, transcripts, test scores, and english proficieny will be unique for each student.

(3) Not sure specifically what xtina meant by "looks favorably" - but it seems that she alludes to a myth that it is easier for an international student to get in. It is not. The international applicants to Hopkins tend to be quite strong students, and the university values diversity in all ways -- but there is no specific policy regarding admitting more international applicants.

(4) The financial aid issue for international students (non-US citizens, non-Permament residents) is a tricky one and probably better explained by a member of the Admissions staff. What I do know is the international applicants need to complete paper work with their application that shows they are able to afford the tuition at Hopkins. International applicants who can not show enough funding can still apply and will be reviewed for acceptance as well as the limited financial aid provide by Hopkins to international students. However, and this is where it is tricky, international applicants may be denied admission due to the fact there is insufficient funding. Hopkins does not want to admit international students who won't be able to afford to enroll and are not provided the funding -- also these students won't be able to get student visas.

Hope that explains, but feel free to contact the international Admissions staff member at Hopkins for further clarification.

Good luck.

Oh!...haha, I didn't mean to come off saying that it is easier for internationals but rather that they aren't necessarily frowned upon by the adcoms! Good luck to you all!
