Acceptance!

Accepted a few days ago. 31 ACT, 3.75 GPA, pretty poor courseload however. Being black helped a bit.

Accepted  Applied to Business school on Oct 30th. 3.89 GPA and 2230 SAT

DS accepted for Animation! He applied in mid-October: 4.27 GPA, 2300 SAT.
Such wonderful news - it’s his first acceptance. Still waiting to hear from Chapman-Dodge and USC. Hope we don’t have to wait until April to hear about FA; without some merit aid, LMU won’t really be a viable option (nor will USC, but we expect nice merit aid from Chapman).

DS loved his tour of Film/TV and the animation program at LMU.
Fingers crossed.

Best of luck to everyone out there still waiting.
Wow…Very impressive stats posted in this thread from all you accepted kids! Congratulations!!

Damn i just got deferred with a 3.6 weighted and 30 ACT. Anyone know my chances of getting in? Cause I know ppl that have gotten in with much worse grades and scores

Don’t worry thesanchize - those are good scores and I think you will get in during the rolling admissions! How do you know you were deferred? Did you get a letter in the mail or was it on Mypaw?

I got a letter in the mail. LMU said that MyPaw is updated three days after u get the letter in the mail

The sanchize, your ACT is good, but your gpa is actually a little low. If you were deferred, they probably want to see your 7th semester grades. They’ll let you know if they do. Try and raise your gpa this semester. You still have a chance, especially with EC’s and if you wrote a good essay. They look at the “whole person” You’re right people with lower stats are admitted, but your gpa is a little below average.

Yep they requested my senior grades i’ll prolly end up with a 3.9 weighted which does not impact my overall by much. Lynnmarie do u think it will make a difference in admission?

I don’t know how much of a difference it would make. It’s only going to help you if you did well. Just try your best, wait, and research other schools. Deferred doesn’t mean wait list it just means they want to compare you to the regular applicant pool.

Got my acceptance letter today! 3.93 gpa and 1860 SAT.

Congrats lynnmarie and thanks for the advice

Hey Sanchize, would you mind telling me what your unweighted gpa is? I got a 27 on the ACT and have a 3.55 unweighted gpa, but still have not recieved my decision yet. It would help a lot.

For everyone else, what do you think my chances of being accepted are? I also don’t need any financial aid. Is LMU need-blind?

Also, since I have not gotten a decision yet, does this most likely mean that I have been deferred or rejected?

Any responses would be great. Thanks!

I have a 3.33 unweighted. You should have no problem getting in cause your gpa is above the average and ur ACT is right there

Thanks, I will let you know what happens when I get my decision. I am still nervous though since many people have been getting their decisions and I still have not.

when do they give out scholarships?

Yes, that’s the next important question. We used the Netprice Calculator on the LMU website after receiving DS’s notice of acceptance. It estimated $20k merit aid. This puts LMU within reach, but it’s only an estimate. Need to know!

Accepted to Biochemistry.
4.24 GPA (9th-11th)
SAT 1900, ACT 27

Has anyone else tried the Netprice Calculator on LMU’s website? We hope that estimated $20k is in the ballpark; without good merit aid, LMU has to come off the table, no matter how much DS loved the School of Film/TV.

That’s new!

gladiatorbird

I tried. I don’t know how accurate it is but it was something around $20,000 to pay after all the scholarships and grants. So far it was the worst estimate to compare with all other universities where D applied.

Have you searched the forum?
There were several posts where students chose Chapman over LMU because of huge difference in financial aid.

Here is an interesting post with a sample of finaid
