what are the most important factors that lead to acceptance at georgetown?
my gpa is mediocre, but my sats, essays, extra curricluars, awards and others i think are pretty good. is gpa really important?

what are your specific stats though? By mediocre, do you mean 2.5? or 3.5? What's your definition of a good SAT..GPA is important...but the difference between a 4.0 and a 3.8 aren't that big. But list your stats for a better answer

btw its the same at all good schools as far as "what's important"
GPA, SAT/ACT, SATII, Class Rank, Essay/Recs, and EC's..

It's hard to say what admissions factors Georgetown considers most. My friend has great stats all around and great ECs but she was deferred ED. It's hard to say what Georgetown values most, and since it's a private college (bound by no obligations, such as the IVY league), they can pretty much do what they want. However, a great transcript, great standardized scores and a genuine passion in and growth through your ECs will definitely keep you in contention. But then again, nothing is guaranteed.

All the Ivies are private too mind you. Well, all except the Aggie School at Cornell, but seriously they are all private. What you are meanign though is the contract of the Ivy League, whereas Cornell, Pton, Yale, etc. all work together Gtown is alone and private. It isn't in a consortium.

Well, the Ivy League is bound by certain rules that all the 8 universities must abide by. Now, I understand that Georgetown is private however, it's a private institution bound by its own rules.

Such as...?

[quote]
Each member institution has its own identity and character and protects its right to pursue its own educational objectives. Thus, although Ivy Group institutions are similar in many respects, each member institution will continue to make its own independent admissions decisions according to its own particular admission policy.

Well, they all have a common reply date, lol...
