<p>I can relate, chessgeeksam. Sometimes, it's just a matter of luck whether or not you get a wise guidance counselor. At my public high school, we only had two post-secondary counselors for a graduating class around 500. My guidance counselor was nice and did his job as far as bureacractic work goes, but in the several meetings I had with him, his advice was very generic. Perhaps, I was not persistent enough. I would recommend talking to different counselors. I know that some of my friends had success doing this.</p>
